Students at Cyprus get ready for the ACT with ACT prep. “I did two after school sessions,” says Junior Addie Gerritsen. But the question is, do students actually participate in ACT prep?
“We haven’t had people really utilize it,” AP Ambassador Alex Olsen says.
Cyprus teacher Krystal Haslett says, “There are not a lot of kids that come. I think the first week I did it, there were 3 kids, and last week, there were 13 kids.” So, the question really lies in the fact that students may not know about ACT prep.
When asking Gerritsen if ACT prep has helped her she replied “Yeah definitely. I feel like it brings back stuff I kind of forgot about.” It seems like people who are aware of ACT prep use it to their advantage.
Maybe students don’t know when ACT prep happens. Haslett shares some worry about the lack of students showing care for the ACT, stating “There are 2800 kids in the school, which means approximately 700 of them should be taking the ACT this year and the fact that I've only seen 13 is a very unfortunate event”
Haslett, along with many AP Ambassadors give out ACT prep every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:30. “I think that kids can get a lot higher scores on the ACT” Haslett says.
