Applications are now open for the A.M.O.R. scholarship program in Utah.
High school students in Utah have a new opportunity to virtually prepare for college through the AMOR Scholars Program, which runs March 4 through April 22. The program offers mentorship, guidance, and weekly meetings to help students build confidence and plan for their future education.
It is a free program that focuses on empowering Latino and marginalized high school students to pursue and persist in Higher education. Mellissa Tuckett, a counselor from Cyprus High School, goes on to say, “ They can speak to their counselor; we also have a college access advisor; we also have a CE (Concurrent Enrollment) advisor from Salt Lake Community College that can help with college preparation. Scholarships are work, but there are many platforms that can be explored to learn about scholarships on websites and most especially on the counseling tab on the Cyprus High School website.”
Students who join the AMOR Scholars Program participate in weekly virtual meetings and work with mentors who help guide them through high school and prepare them for college. The program is open to Utah students in grades nine through twelve and is designed to give students support, leadership skills, and information about scholarships and higher education opportunities.
