Cyprus High school students are frustrated with the lunch experience in the new building, during Cyprus's 2025-2026 school year.

 Cyprus student Xander Ward stated “The lunch room is too crowded.” In the new school the lunch room became more crowded because so many new students have joined Cyprus’s roster. 

 Lunch lines at Cyprus take a while to give out lunch to all students, the lines are long most of the time they are longer than where the line is supposed to start. Ward stated “The food doesn’t taste that great, and the lunch room is way too crowded.” 

 Most Cyprus students have the option to leave school during lunch, but most students choose not to leave. Cyprus student Jackson McFarlane said, “I don't leave for lunch because the food is fine, but gas is expensive so I choose to stay.” Although lunch doesn’t take as long as you would assume, the lunch room is at almost max capacity most of the time.”Getting lunch only takes about ten minutes.” McFarlane says. I also asked Cyprus student Alejandro Bedyoa if he gets lunch Bedyoa said “I don’t get lunch at school because it's way too crowded, by the time I get to the lunch room. Also lunch is not free.”

 So, if students are not getting school lunch where are they going? Ward says “I usually go to McDonalds or TacoBell, because those are the only close cheap options.” Bedoya also said “I usually go to McDonalds, TacoBell or my friend's car.” I asked the students if they find it hard to come back after leaving the school. Ward said “Yeah, it’s hard to want to come back. I only have one period after lunch, but sometimes I just want to go home.” Bedoya Said “Sometimes it’s hard to want to come back, I don't like my third period class.”

 During lunch the traffic leaving and getting back to the school is a lot. I asked the students what they thought. “Traffic is another reason I choose to stay at the school.” McFarlane said. Ward responded “If you leave the school before 11, you can make it before all the traffic.” Bedoya said “The traffic leaving during lunch is bad, that's why I usually stay in my friend’s car.”
