Customers gathered outside Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City on Feb. 28 for the grand opening of Utah’s first dd’s DISCOUNTS retail store. 

This retail store is a sister company with Ross stores, known for selling brand-name merchandise and items such as clothes, shoes, and home decor, well below that of other retailers and amazing deals. dd’s DISCOUNTS opened its first store in 2004 as a convenient place to shop in your neighborhood and has then expanded across the United States with hundreds of locations. As their slogan says “Great buys are close by, so there's no need to shop anywhere else!”

Assistant Manager Andrea talks about how the process of opening the first dd’s in Utah was a bit overwhelming especially how time went fast and was done in a month. The team effort put into this project was incredible with team members coming all the way from Los Angeles, California. The community attending may expect a variety of discounted amazing merchandise and seasonal items. Andrea says on behalf of the team, “we’re glad to be the first dd’s to open here in Utah.”

One of the first 100 customers to enter the store, Valeryn Rodriguez, said she was excited to see a dd’s DISCOUNTS located in Utah. 

Rodriguez said she used to live in Florida, where dd’s stores were common in many neighborhoods. 

“When I moved to Utah, I was sad to see that there wasn’t any dd’s stores located here,” Rodriguez said. “ I told all my friends and family, after hearing of the grand opening was announced in January.”

This store’s grand opening brings new shopping opportunities for people in the community looking for more affordable clothing and home decor.
