While many high school seniors are focused on graduation and college, one student has shifted her focus onto starting a business to make a change. Sadiey Myler, a Cyprus high school senior and CEO of SADIEYS, plans to help change the outdated one size fits all in the healthcare industry.
For Sadiey this is not just a business, her inspiration for her business is deeper than everyone sees. Sadiey grew up with a single mother who had reminded her that her achievements did not stop at what is expected, it stops where she wants it to. She was taught to reach beyond her limits, this inspired her to create something that is meaningful and helps change things for the better.
Sadiey had said ¨I wanted to create something meaningful.¨ inspired not only by her mother but also by unexpected places such as Doc McStuffins, which had piqued her interest in healthcare. This love for business and healthcare has helped her show others that they are heard and appreciated.
Thanks to this vision it led her to creating SADIEYS, focusing on a redesign of unisex scrubs for women. After coming to the realization that women make up 80% of the industry, she saw a problem. Most scrubs are unisex giving a boxy uncomfortable feeling and lack of personality.
Through SADIEYS she plans to change this. SADIEYS designs aim to fit and flatter women's form while staying affordable and making certain that women in healthcare don't have to choose between comfort and cost. Sadiey expresses that this is her goal by saying “So many women deserve to feel confident and capable without paying luxury prices.”
Said by both Sadiey and Lacey Cates, her mother, Sadiey is very focused on women helping women in this workforce. A way that she has been able to do this with her business is both by creating designs to fit the comfort of all women and by donating a portion of sales to breast cancer awareness.
Sadiey's journey has not been easy; she had to learn everything, branding, marketing, finances, and resilience. Along with running her business she works as a CNA and a medical assistant, this helps her gain firsthand experience with what healthcare workers need.
Next year Sadiey plans to take her career to the next level by pursuing a career as a nurse practitioner, continuing to connect her passion for healthcare with her goals.
Balancing work, school, leadership goals, and a growing business hasn't been easy, but this helped shape her into someone disciplined and determined. As said by her mother ¨She has learned that business is a men’s world. I think that gives her a drive to make it work, and show other women along the way that together they are players in this game.¨
For her this is not just another brand, this is a passion and want for change, she is hoping this helps build and grow the community into one that uplifts and appreciates women in healthcare. By her designs and her giving back this helps empower all women.
“Success doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from persistence,” she said. “When your purpose is rooted in something real, it will always guide you forward.” With graduation close Sadiey is not just graduating, she is stepping into her future and the future of her business where she has the power and potential to cause the change that is needed.
