Cyprus Unites: Wednesday, April 16th from 5 PM - 7 PM. We will have a specific time that we will be singing, but I have not been given that time yet. We will meet at the Brockbank campus in the library like we did last year, unless I hear otherwise. More information to come.
Costumes:
Reminder: Most students/parents have reached out to me about costume questions. I have Dalmatian ear bands, tails, and the musical shirt.
Most students will come to performances in most of their costumes. There are only a few students who will need to change into their costumes at school. Students who need make-up should come with that already completed. We will have a few parent volunteers helping with dog noses, if needed.

Rehearsals are going well. Thank you for supporting your child's education including the arts. There is a lot of benefit in learning for students who are involved in musicals. Studies have shown that students apply their learning to other academic areas because of being involved in musicals.
We have been able to run through the musical a few times now. Please continue to encourage your child to study their lines and especially the songs near the end of the show. Songs like: "Twight Light Bark", "The Chase", and "Dalmatian Vacation" all could use a good practice by everyone in the show.
Costumes are coming along. Thank you to our parent volunteers who have been helping to create our unique dog accessories. If you still have questions about your child's costume feel free to reach out. I think I have gotten to most people that have had inquiries about their costumes, but you are more than welcome to reach out to me anytime.
Next rehearsal: Friday, November 15th
Today's rehearsal went well. Thank you for being on time and ready to go when our teacher meetings end. It helps us get started quickly. We started working on our blocking for our opening number. We are hoping to have a good start to the show.
Since we are starting blocking, this is a good time to remind everyone of our attendance expectations for rehearsals. We expect students to be at all rehearsals. We also understand that there are many things pulling our time and we can't do everything that we would like to and sometimes choices have to be made. We do allow missing three rehearsals. Understand that these misses are usually for illnesses and emergencies. So use them wisely, if at all.
If you are not at a blocking rehearsal you may not be able to be in the scene that is blocked. This is really important for our ensemble actors. We want you to be in as much of the show as possible, but blocking puts every person and object in a location for a scene and with our large cast it becomes difficult to make changes later, so please be sure you are at all rehearsals.
Next rehearsal: Friday, November 8th
There will be no rehearsal tomorrow. Please enjoy the festivities of the weekend with your family. Students please remember we need lines and songs memorized for pages 1 - 10. You can access these on the music tracks tab above. Please highlight your book for any speaking lines that you have, so you can memorize these. Read through your lines frequently with a family member reading other lines, so you can get use to saying your part without the book.
Next rehearsal: Friday, October 18th
We will be doing a complete read through of the full show. You will want to be at this rehearsal since scripts will be handed out at this rehearsal. Take care of scripts these were purchased with PTA funds, so please be responsible with them. Please keep them away for liquids, younger siblings, pets, and anyone who likes to eat paper. Placing them in a plastic bag for protection has saved many a child from needing to pay $10 for a replacement book.
Please, please, please, parents/guardians, help your chilldren to learn their lines as quickly as possible. This will allow us to move sooner to choreography. It is easier to teach choreography when the children know the words they are supposed to be speaking and/or singing. Remember to use this website to access the songs under the "Music Tracks" webpage.
All rehearsals will take place on short days, usually Fridays, but there are a few Thursdays, as well. Rehearsals will run from 2:50 PM - 4:00 PM. Students may not stay after school since there isn't any supervision for them, so they will need to return to school later to attend rehearsal. We are looking for parent volunteers to help with student crossing at the crosswalks from 2:40 - 2:50, so students can cross the street safely. Please let Mr. Muir know if you would like to be on a rotating schedule to help with this. The more volunteers, the less times needed to perform the task.
The students will enter the gymnasium by the east doors. Students, please wait patiently outside while we finish up our teacher meetings. They will need to wait until the teachers come to open the doors. The teachers will strive to be at the doors as close to 2:50 PM as they can since their meeting ends at 2:45 PM.
Mr. Miuir is able to do the crossing after rehearsal, he is just unable to be out their timely with the meetings prior to rehearsal.
