Hey colts!!! My name is Charlotte Smith and I am running for the position of senior class artist. I decided to run for this position because I love representing cottonwood and painting our school in all its glory and that's exactly what I intend to do as senior class artist. I love making posters and seeing the posters light up the school hallways. As artist I would put all of my effort into making the posters creative, unique, and inclusive to all at cottonwood. As artist I would maintain connection and support between all groups and organizations at Cottonwood, and make sure to showcase Cottonwood in a good light and honor the legacy and culture that Cottonwood has.
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
Two initiatives that I will work on next year if elected is to make Cottonwood events more fun and memorable and to increase inclusivity and participation within our school. Ways I want to implement my initiatives next year if elected are to include student body with planning activities as well as get more feedback so that more students are involved in Cottonwood events that they want to experience.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
To me, being a colt means being inclusive. It means being proud of your school and all that it represents. Being a colt means celebrating the diversity and community that Cottonwood has. Being a colt is an honor and a privilege that should be highlighted as much as possible. Being a colt for three years has taught me how to represent my school in a good manner that showcases all that Cottonwood has to offer. Being a colt to me means being a good human and loving all those around you for who they truly are. I love our school and have been incredibly grateful to be able to go to our wonderful school.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
One way I would develop activities to make everyone feel welcome and included is to advertise the activities a little bit better and survey the student body to see what activities they are most interested in. By announcing the announcements and activities better each day it will inform students better about upcoming activities. As student government making sure the student body is having fun and getting what they want out of the activities is crucial to making everyone feel welcome and included.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
Throughout the school year maintaining good attendance and academics is cruical to staying on track and making sure all students at Cottonwood have a successful and fun school year. To me staying motivated, especially during senior year, will be particularly easy. Because itś senior year I am excited and ready to put all my effort into this position. Remembering the example I set for the school as well as the impact I can make on helping people have a good school year are just two ways that will keep me extremly motivated with academics and attendance next school year.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some great qualities that make a great leader are dependibility, positivity, adaptability, and community.
Dependability: Being dependable is such an important skill to have as a leader. Knowing that people can count on you and trust you is the first step to building great relationships and establishing your integrity with your peers.
Positivity: As a leader you set the example for all those following your lead. Leading with positivity especially when things don´t go exactly the way you planned is a critical part of leadership the truly makes a good leader. Having a good attitude can change any situation for the better and as a leader for our school positivity will go a long way.
Adaptability: The ability to adapt to the constant unknown challenges that may arise as a leader is a skill that can define you as a good leader and a great leader.
Community: Building a connection with your community and understand the wants and needs of your peers isi truly important to make a great leader. Relationships, in this case with the student body are crucial to keep Cottonwood connected and interlocked as a great community.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
One leadership quality I have is responsibility. I am an incredibly responsible person and am able to be on top of things. I am a pretty organized person and have had lots of experience juggling lots of tasks at one time. I am also confident and willing to stand up for the people around me, I ´ m happy to be the voice of the people and help as much as I can to advocate for those I represent as a leader. These qualities will help me be a good class officer at Cottonwood because they help to provide unity throughout our school and an overall sense of belonging to all students at Cottowood.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
For senior class artist I have many qualifications that make me a great candidate for artist. I am incredibly creative and have the natural ability to come up with unique designs on the spot. I have had many experiances in my life that give me great experience for this position, including being chief editor for journalism my 8th grade year, provided much digital design experiance and poster making for advertising and making the yearbook. I have also had the oppurtunity to create so many posters for church activities as well as multiple artistic presentations and posters for my dance studio. Using my love for caligraphy and handwriting combined with art is so fun to me and as I have experianced and learned more about it I have gotten increasingly better to the point where I am now where art comes incredibly easy to me.
