I am running for SBO Communications because I want everyone at Cottonwood to feel informed, included, and connected. My goal is to strengthen school spirit by improving how we share information and highlight all of the amazing things happening. I'm qualified because I have expertise in clear communication and leadership. I plan to represent CHS by creating engaging announcements, eye catching visuals, and consistent messages that will connect everyone.
I will work on making school events clearer and more exiting by improving posters, announcements, and digital updates so that students always know what is happening. I will also highlight student achievements to help build a stronger sense of community and colt pride across CHS.
To me being a Colt means always showing respect, responsibility, and pride in everything I do. Weather Im in the classroom, an event, or out in the community. It means supporting others, staying positive, and representing cottonwood with integrity.
One way I would develop activities would create activities that are easy for everyone to join, like community building moments during assemblies or spirit week where every student can participate without needing to be part of a specific group. I would also make sure our communications highlights a wide range of students, so everyone feels seen.
You can stay motivated by setting small realistic goals each week so that school feels acheivable instead of overwhelming. It might also help to stay connected. Showing up for classes, friends, and activities you enjoy will help make school meaningful.
Great leaders stay consistent, communicate clearly, and make the people around them feel valued. They are responsible, positive, and willing to step up when things get tough so that everyone can succeed.
I am a strong communicator and that helps me to share information and stay organized. This quality will help me be a good SBO because I can keep people connected, informed, and excited about what is happening at school.

SBO Communications Officer Task:
Create a sample intercom announcement advertising a student as a Student of the Year winner. Additionally create 3 social media posts to encourage students to attend 3 events at Cottonwood. SBOs, give three ideas for making the YouTube live announcements engaging. How will you include other members of Student Government in these Live Announcements?
Sample Intercom announcement:
"Although it was an extremely difficult choice, Colts, today we are honored to announce (student Name) as our student of the year! (This Student) has made a meaningful difference through their character, service, and dedication to others. (student name) has helped create a more welcoming and supportive environment here at cottonwood. Congratulations to (student name), thank you for showing what it truly means to be a colt. When you see (student name) make sure to give them a big congratulations for earning this amazing honor. "
Ideas For YouTube Live Announcements:
Bring SBO members on as guest hosts:
Changing who appears on screen will help to keep the announcements interesting and will help students to recognize members of the student body. It will also give SBO's chances to introduce events that they are leading.
Feature student engagement:
We could pull people out of class or interview people and incorporate them into the announcements. SBOs could be in charge of reaching out or interviewing different students to cover each part (sports, clubs, events, etc.).
Spotlight Segments that rotate weekly
Announcements could include spotlights that change every week to keep people watching and engaged. (For example, Club of the week, teacher spotlight, or hidden talents etc.) Different SBO's could be in charge of one every week, so they appear often and build familiarity with the audience.
