My name is Indiana (“Indie”) Hoggan, I am running for the position of Student Body Officer Artist because I enjoy using creativity and experiences to bring people together, which will strengthen the overall student experience. Creativity plays an important role in how we communicate ideas, celebrate events, and make our school feel welcoming, inclusive, and exciting. I would love the opportunity to contribute to CHS by designing banners, posters, and decorations that represent the energy and pride of our student body.
One of my goals as the SBO Artist would be to help make school events more engaging, fun, visually memorable, and more welcoming. I would work closely with dance officers and other student government members to create designs that would make each event unique and memorable.
I believe I would be a strong candidate for this role because I am organized, dependable, and enjoy collaborating with others. Through my involvement in academics, athletics, and school activities, I have learned the importance of teamwork, preparation, and representing my school with pride. I take responsibility seriously and always try to bring a positive attitude to everything I do. I would bring these character qualities to the position of Artist as a Student Body Officer and apply them to serve the student body effectively.
If elected, I will represent CHS in a positive and innovative way by bringing creativity, organization, and enthusiasm to the role. My goal is to help create designs that highlight school spirit and make every event feel special for all students, staff, and our community.
Thank you for your consideration.
If elected, I will focus on improving the creativity and visibility of school events through well-designed banners, posters, and decorations that help build excitement and school spirit. As a result, this will lead to more awareness and more students attending events. I would also work on creating a better system for organizing and maintaining art supplies so student government can easily prepare for dances, activities, and school events throughout the year, allowing for consistency from event to event.
To me, being a Colt means showing pride in our school and supporting the people around us. It means working hard, being respectful, and contributing to a positive environment where students feel connected, welcomed, and proud to represent Cottonwood High School.
One way I would help make everyone feel welcome is by helping create events and decorations that reflect the interests of many different students and their respective interests. I would ask for feedback from a broader student population, allowing for more ideas to be included. Creative designs, themes, and promotions can make school activities more inviting and encourage more students to participate and feel part of the Cottonwood community.
Staying motivated starts with setting goals and staying organized so schoolwork feels manageable. I believe that you won’t always be motivated; however, you can always be disciplined and accountable, allowing for multiple things to be accomplished.
Great leaders are responsible, positive, and supportive of others. They communicate well, work as part of a team, and lead by example by doing their best and encouraging others to do the same.
One leadership quality I have is reliability. When I commit to something, I follow through and do my best work. This will help me be a good SBO because I will take my responsibilities seriously and work hard to help make school events successful and represent Cottonwood in a positive way.
SBO Artist Task
Create a sample poster (can be scaled down) to advertise a dance and dance theme of your choosing. This needs to be hand drawn. Provide a photo of your poster. Additionally, create one page with at least 3 different poster examples for a Sweethearts Dance that the advisor can print and provide to the rest of Student Government to help them create their advertising posters. This page can be either hand drawn or digitally made. The other members of Student Government are required to help with making dance advertising posters, but many need to copy a pre-made design.
