I’m running for SBO because I want to be more involved at Cottonwood and help students feel more connected. I want to make communication easier, support school spirit events, and bring in new ideas that help our school feel more united. Through the clubs I’m part of, I’ve built strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. I’m organized, reliable, and committed to following through. I plan to represent CHS in a positive and creative way by staying open minded, professional, and focused on what students need.
If elected, two initiatives I will work on next year are improving school wide communication and increasing student involvement.
To me, being a Colt means showing pride in my school and taking care of the people around me. It’s about showing up, supporting others, and helping make Cottonwood a place where everyone feels welcome. Being a Colt isn’t just about spirit days or events it’s about representing our school with respect, kindness, and effort every day.
I would create simple, low‑pressure activities that anyone can join, even if they don’t know a lot of people. Things like quick lunch games or small group challenges can help students meet new people and feel included.
My advice is to stay consistent and keep yourself accountable. Checking my grades often and keeping a simple routine helps me stay on track. It also makes a big difference to remember my goals and why showing up matters, even on the days you don’t feel motivated.
Some qualities that make a great leader are being reliable, communicating clearly, and actually listening to people. A good leader shows up, stays organized, and treats everyone with respect. They’re willing to help, take responsibility, and set a positive example for others.
One leadership quality I have is staying organized. I keep track of tasks, and deadlines which help events run smoothly. As an SBO, this would help me stay on top of responsibilities and make sure things get done the right way.

Good morning, Colts! Today we’re excited to recognize one of our outstanding students as Cottonwood’s Student of the Year. Congratulations to Maya Lopez. Maya is known for her hard work, positive attitude, and the way she always supports the people around her. She shows up in the classroom, at events, and in our community with true Colt pride.
