Question and Answer

Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?

Something I want to work on next year is making announcments (espeically live youtube announcments) more engaging and fun to watch. A good way to do this could be encorperating activites with announcements. This way, more people will hopefully watch announcements and will also get the information about events that goes along with it. Another thing I want to try is when a club or sports team accomplishes something good like placing in a torunament, instead of just reading off a paper what they did we should interview a couple of them on live announements or humans of Cottonwood so they feel recognized and special. I feel like this would help kids want to watch announcements if their friends are on it and maybe even interest them in attending the next event or join the team/ club that was recognized. 

Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?

For me, being a Colt means following all the rules while proudly representing/supporting your school. The "Colts are Great" acryonym is an easy way to remember all the rules we should be following. Goal Orientied, respectful, engaged, accountable and tolerant can all can help us be good students. Proudy representing your school can show alot. This means showing up for events and being excited and happy to be there. 

Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?

One thing I would do to develop activites is at basketball games when students walk into the game, have someone lead them or invite them to sit in the student section. Sometimes the student section can be intimidating for those who aren't at a ton of the games and this would help them feel welcome right as they walk in. I think its really important that all teh Cottonwood students sit toegther and interact and this would be a good way for them to feel welcome to sit in it. 

Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?

My best piece of advice to stay motivated with attendance and acdemics throughout the year is to remember that even small choices like missing class could effect your future. It is very important to keep up in school because it shows alot about yoruself and your goals in life. When you appy for colleges they are going to look at alot and its important you dont mess that up now just because you dont want to go to class. 

Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?

Some qualites that make a great leader is good communication, motivation, responsibility and empathy. Having good communication is needed for many things like planning and problem solving. Be motivated is very important especially when trying to get something done.  Responsibility will help you take ownership of your actions and take on what is needed and empathy also helps you feel for others which is important when working with groups. These all play a role into making a great leader. 

Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?

A quality I have that will help me be a class officer is I am very motivated and responsible. When I am given a task, I like to do it right away before it becomes a worry. I like setting goals and having things to do throughout the week. It gives me something to do and look forward too. Being motivated and responsible has helped me accomplish alot in my life. 

Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?

I love talking with people and making sure everyone feels included. With announcements I would like to be very energetic and friendly. I have loved designing flyers for past things and I would be very excited to make instagram posts for games/ events and make them look enticing and fun to be at. 

Task

Create a sample intercom announcement (written out) advertising a student (of your choice) as a Student of the Year winner. Additionally create 3 social media posts to encourage your particular grade to attend 3 events (of your choice) at Cottonwood.

Good morning Colts! I hope your having a great day! Today we have a very special announcement. This past year teachers and admin have been looking for a student to win the student of the year award. This is a very big deal as its our of all the kids in the entire school! This student is very responsible, motivated, hardworking, always kind, a student athlete and very respectful towards admin and teachers. If your name is read please come to the office to recive your prize. This years student of the year award goes to _________! Congratulations we are so proud of you and keep being you!
