SOCIAL STUDIES

Welcome!
This year will be a grand adventure as we at Woodstock embark on a new teaching arrangement that is designed to help both the fourth and fifth grade classes learn and thrive in their education, particularly targeting reading and writing.
The fourth and fifth grade teachers will be instituting a rotation-model plan in which each teacher will be responsible for one component of your students' curriculum: reading, writing, math, science and social studies. Each teacher will still have a dedicated homeroom class assignment, but our goal is give students to the ability to learn from teachers that will be masters in their domain and within a variety of environments to help them stay engaged.
I will be in charge of teaching Social Studies and Citizenship to fourth and fifth graders. Fourth graders will learn about Utah History, and Fifth grade will learn more broadly about American History. We will also use one day a week to focus on citizenship and Graduate of Granite traits we want in all of our students. I look forward to working with everyone this year!
About Ms. Walker
I have taught for six years, and one of my favorite things about working with students is seeing them grow and creating a positive and fun classroom community. In my free time I like to trail run, ridge climb, road cycle, backcountry snowboard, hike with my puppy Krieger, and draw. I grew up mostly in Asia, and I love encouraging students to bring their different interests and cultural backgrounds into classroom discussions! We are all stronger when we respect differences and learn from our unique experiences! I am excited to watch all of these fourth and fifth graders grow as students this year!
