Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Hello! This year will be an exciting journey of learning. I feel privileged to be here at Crestview and personally guide Room 1 through all the fascinating opportunities to learn. We will have as much fun as possible while also becoming proficient in all the skills for third grade math, reading, writing, science and social studies.

Homework Policy:
Time is provided during the school day for students to complete assigned work. However, homework may be given in the following areas:
Unfinished work (due to absence, not completing at school, etc.): This is work that should have been completed in class; however, the opportunity to complete it and return it prior to a set due date is given by the teacher. (“Make-up” work due to absences is allowed two days per one day of absence to be returned to school.)
Reinforcement of Classroom Instruction: This includes a review of concepts already taught in the classroom and assignments such as practicing spelling lists, math facts, etc. at home. In addition, it is expected that each child will read thirty minutes a day. This time spent at home with your child will greatly benefit him/her by reinforcing skills as well as communicating the importance of education at home as well as at school.
Special Projects: Extension activities may be assigned generally to upper grade students to broaden their education, further explore curriculum areas and encourage creativity, e.g. county, state, country reports, science fair projects, etc.
Homework is not graded, it is for practice if needed.
Crestview is a great place for children to learn academics as well as social skills. Our goal is to help each child be responsible for his or her own behavior and make appropriate choices at school. School rules are made to foster learning and provide a safe environment for all students. Our school plan includes the following components:

1st redirection: Verbal warning
2nd redirection: Stop & Think (5 minutes)

Miscellaneous
Birthdays
Birthdays are exciting! If you would like to bring in a treat to share with the whole class, please let me know at least 3 days in advance to prevent any scheduling conflicts. I ask that any treats be store bought. I would also discourage any treats that are messy (store cupcakes are yummy but create the worst messes).
Volunteers
Parents are welcome to volunteer/visit the classroom. Some areas where parents can spend their time with us are helping out with math and reading, activities and clerical work like making copies.
Please note:
Must bring a valid driver’s license
No preschool or school aged children
Fill out the Confidentiality for Volunteers form
Attendance
If your child is sick, keep them home. Your child will have 2 days to make up any missing assignments per day absent.
