. I have decided to run for your class president because i am very confident that I can be a great representative for all. I am a very social person who is willing and does step out of my comfort zone in order for everyone to feel welcome and safe at our school. Some things I hope to achieve while in office is one attendance matters, and two strong communication. Attendance is very important because school can lead to many different opportunities for everyone if you attend . Communication is also very well because we can use feedback we get to help the school be a better place for all. Communication is also a very good life skill. Some qualifications I have is organization, empathy, integrity, goal setting, approachability, and problem solving. I could use my good organization skills and plan great activites to help at our school and my problem solving can help with problems at our school.
Really Didn't know what to do but I hope you like it !!
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
Based off this generation my first one would be a way to work on mental health. We could do things like cups of kindness where we would hand out warm drinks to everyone with positive things on them so they can feel mental stronger and happier. We could peer mentoring where older colts can help our freshman out because it is there first year in high school. My second thought would be a way for service for people at our school and our school. These would include school clean up, food clothes and supplies drives for anyone in need.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
Being a colt to me is being a kind and respectful person in a diverse community. It brings a sense of belonging and mutual support. Helps me be a better person and provides a save space for all students. Colts are great examples to all and I hope that reflects on me while at cottenwood.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
I would make sure people are greeted and welcome from the second they are at a school event and I mean EVERYONE. I would also make it so everyone has the opportunity to do the same thing as everyone else to make it fair and so one feels unwelcomed. I would make sure people feel good and are comfortable before deciding anything. A lot of people feel unwelcomed or not included when they aren't checked up opon. So I would make sure to check up on everyone to ensure that they are okay.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
I would say to make sure I have a good routine that I like so i will be willing to stick with it. I would also say to make good conections with my peers and teachers i know that it'll make me stay active in everything I do. I believe that good things should be rewarded so I would make a reward system to make sure I am working towards that goal or reward of mine.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some qualities that make a great leader are Honesty, Kindness, Empathy, Vision, Courage, and Growth Mindset. Honesty, Kindness, and Empathy are all great because these traits will reflect you as a person. When with people it is important that you are kind and understand them as a person.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
A good leadership quality that I have is communication skills and problem solving. Having good communication skills can help as a class officer because you will need to talk and help the people around you. It helps to clear confusion with anything and makes stronger connections with your peers. Problem solving can also help as a class officer because not everything is going to go as planned and thats okay. We need to know how to get through hard ships even when difficult. These can help while at Cottonwood because we are in charge of planning and making sure school activites are safe and fun for the people at our school.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
I would say I have many and these include strong communication, good listener, kindness, optimistic, responsible, and leadership/decision making. I have been in a peer leader class this year and I have seen how to handle things and I've learned so much. I know how to communicate with people younger then me, older, and even younger.
Task: In my task I have played this before at my girls camp. It requries blindfolds, and a rope to make a square. In this game you will have groups of 4-5 all blind folded. The point of this game is to make a perfect square with your group without being able to see. You will need to communicate with the others around you. I would first start with explaning the game and picking groups. i would then blindfold all of them and give them their rope. They would have a time limt or untill they can form a perfect square. At the end of this activity I would then ask the following questions. What was the hardest part of this challenge ? How did you guys communicate during these hard times? After asking and getting a few answers I would then explain that this activity is helping us with 3 things. One problem solving, Two Communication and three Trust. I would then ask How this activity goes with these three things. I would then get answer from each student and go over/ reflect. It's a very simple and easy activity that can help us realize some of the most important things in leadership. Tip: If groups are having a hard time I or someone else would come and whisper into their ears to help guide.
