Question and Answer

Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?

Two initiatives I will wokr on next year as senior dance class offficer are, making the dances more fun and inclusive for everyone. And taking feedback and ideas from others to further improve the dances.

Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?

To me, to be a colt means that you are apart of a community that takes action, are inclusive, respectful, and hard working. Being colt is more than just the high school mascot. Being a colt will be with you for the rest of your life even after you graduate. So being a colt to means that I will always be apart of this community.

Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?

One way I would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included is creating a poll. Creating a poll of activities and have students take that poll during homeroom will help us understand what students want and help them feel like they are heard, using their ideas and taking action.

Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?

Advice that I have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year is, when you miss one day you will wnat to miss more and more. Missing more days and skipping classes will pile on work, causing students to lose motivation for school in all. Your education isn't your entire future but it builds the pathway for a easier and better future. What you decide to do with your eductaion will reflect later in life.

Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?

I think some qualities that make a great leader are integrity, respect, kindness, hardworking, and empathy. I alos belive that great leaders are assertive and fair to everyone. No one is above the rules, standards, or law. They hold people accountable while using empathy. 

Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?

I am very empathetic. I hold people accountable when they are in thw wrong while understanding both sides of every story. I can empathize with others to strengthen each other and solve issues/problems.

Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?

I am a great listener and an inclusive person. I don't want anyone being left out. I feel like dances and any activity for that matter at Cottonwood High School should be welcoming for everyone. I plan to listen to what people have to say, to achieve that welcoming goal. 

Task

Task: Develop a Homecoming Dance theme that fosters unity among the Cottonwood High School student body. Explain how the chosen location, décor, music selection, and DJ coordination will work together to create an engaging, inclusive, and memorable experience for all students. 

The homecoming theme will be "Casino Night" or "A Night in Vegas". This will be primally based off Las Vegas and hitting the "jackpot". The location for this dance will be inside the Cottonwood Commons. The decor will include a red and black theme to implement the red and black in a deck of cards. There will spades, diamonds, hearts, and clubs all around. As well as, dice and pictures of poker chips. There will be a photo booth backdrop. These will include the red and black colors, surrounded by dice, poker-chips, and above letters spelling out "Jackpot". The music selection will consist of artists and songs that are popular at the time. Also, including some 2000-2010 hits because, who doesn't love a 2000s hit? We will include songs across a diverse range of genres and types of music to make everyone feel included. Everyone will be welcomed, date or no date. I believe having this unique and special theme/dance will make it a night to remember and create memories for everyone.
