Dear Guardians and Parents,
It is my hope that your child has a wonderful year learning. Much of the work we do in class is completed in small groups. The groups are formed on assessment data and this method of grouping allows me to better meet the needs of each student.
Behavior Plan: We will follow the The Patriot Way. This focuses on 4 school wide expectations: Be a Postive Leader, Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be safe. We will use a level system. When students follow the schools expectations they will be on level 3. Students who move up to level 4 three different times will be rewarded. The student's parents will also be notified. Students will always be given a redirection to stay on 3, but if students do not follow the school expectations they will move down levels. When a student has to move down a level the student will be retaught the school's expectation. A students guardians will be contacted if they move down a level three times in a month. If a students behavior causes them to move down to level 2 frequently their behavior will be documented on Educators Handbook. If a student behavior causes them to move down 2 levels the student will not be able to attend School Team Day during the month, the student's behavior will be documented, and the student, teacher, principal and the student's parents will meet.
Voice Level System: We use a voice level system at our school. Level 0 is no talking, Level 1 is a whisper, level 2 is a small voice, 3 is a normal voice, 4 is a strong voice. When students follow the voice level system they will be moved up a level on our classroom behavior chart. When students do not follow the system, they will be moved down.
Classroom work: When students complete their classroom tasks they will be rewared. Students will be able to explore with simple learning games, fine motor skill development activities, reading and puzzles at the reward table for 10 minutes in the morning. Students who do not complete their work will work on completing their tasks with the teacher. During the week when students completes their classroom tasks they receive points. Each completed task or activity is worth 2 points. On Fridays students will be able to fill out a form and use their points to purchase prizes. If the student is not present on the Friday before the student will have to wait until the following Friday to place their prize order. The prizes they select will be handed out at the end of school,;; on the first day of the following week, usually Monday.
