I’m running for Communications to bring more spirit to events, support all sports and activities, and keep everyone informed about opportunities. I’ll use my creativity and organization to create fun announcements and eye-catching posts. My goal is to make information clear and accessible so no one misses out on fun events or opportunities. I believe communication goes both ways, so I want to make sure student voices are heard by gathering feedback and making changes based on what students actually want. I’m respectful, accountable, positive, organized, and able to communicate well with both students and staff. As your Sophmore Communications Officer, I’ll represent Cottonwood in a positive, unified way while highlighting the talent, determination, and pride in our school!
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
Two key initiatives I plan to focus on as a Class Officer are improving communication and strengthening school involvement. I want to ensure all students are well-informed about upcoming events and opportunities. This includes making information accessible, clear, and consistent so that every student feels included and aware about what's happening around Cottonwood! In addition, I aim to actively promote and support all teams, clubs, and extracurricular activities. I hope to bring a stronger sense of school spirit and unity while recognizing the hard work of students participating in these activities.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
To me, being a colt means being part of a community. It means working together to achieve our goals and building one another up. Being a colt has given me a strong sense of place and belonging.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
One way I would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome would be to actively seek students' voices. Getting a variety of other students' opinions will help me create ways to include many different groups of people. Making polls, surveys, or talking personally to people will help me make activities that more people will enjoy and participate in.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
The most important piece of advice I can give you to stay motivated is to take care of yourself. Sleep, exercise, food, study breaks, and outside time are not the enemy. That is your fuel. You need to put yourself first in order to succeed in other elements, like school. Taking care of yourself physically and mentally will make staying motivated so much easier.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
In my opinion, qualities that make a good leader are responsibility, communication, empathy, positivity, adaptability, and teamwork. A strong leader can listen to different perspectives and work with others to create a positive and inclusive environment. Effective leaders take initiative and remain adaptable when challenges present themselves. Most importantly, they lead with their peers, valuing every voice and treating others with respect.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
One leadership quality I excel in is positivity. My positivity will make me a great Class Officer at Cottonwood because I encourage others, support my peers, and create an environment where everyone feels included and valued. I can focus on solutions, not problems, which helps me handle things effectively. Ultimately, my positivity allows me to bring unity to our class, strengthen school spirit, and build a supportive community.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
Specific qualifications I have for being class officer is staying organized, thinking creatively, and communicating effectively. These skills help me manage my responsibilities efficiently, bring fresh ideas to our class, and work collaboratively not only with my fellow officers, but with the whole school. I want to highlight my creativity because not only am I good with coming up with creative ideas for announcements, instagram posts, and more, but I love doing it. Being creative is one of my favorite things and I would love to express it while keeping the school informed and updated.
