I'm running for Junior Class Secretary because I want to help make our year more organized, inclusive, and memorable for everyone. As secretary, I would focus on clear communication, staying on top of important details, and ensuring that every student's voice is heard. I am organized, responsible, and detail-oriented, which equips me to handle the responsibilities of a class officer effectively. I also enjoy collaborating with others and turning ideas into meaningful actions. Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
One initiative I would focus on is motivating students to come to school. I want students to feel excited about being at Cottonwood and to see school as a place where they can connect with friends, explore new interests, and be part of something special. By making school more inviting and enjoyable, I hope to increase participation and help students feel proud of their school community.
Another initiative is to make sure students feel valued for their individuality. Everyone has something unique to offer, and acknowledging that can help students feel proud of who they are and more excited to get involved in school life. I would work to create opportunities to recognize and celebrate different voices, talents, and perspectives, whether through events, activities, or everyday interactions. By encouraging a positive and supportive environment, I want every student to feel seen, respected, and confident in being themselves.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
Being a Colt means being part of a community where everyone supports each other and works together to make our school a positive place. It's about showing pride in our school, being respectful and responsible, and helping others succeed while making memories that we can all share. Being a Colt also means being inclusive and encouraging, celebrating the achievements of others, and contributing to a school environment where every student feels valued and part of something bigger than themselves.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
One way I would make everyone feel welcome is by designing activities that celebrate the diversity and unique interests of our student body. I would reach out to different clubs, cultural groups, and organizations to collaborate on events so that multiple perspectives are represented. By creating events where every student sees themselves represented and feels invited, I hope to foster a school culture where everyone feels valued and included.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
Staying motivated throughout the year can be challenging, but it really comes down to consistency and mindset. Even on days when it feels hard, showing up and putting in effort makes a big difference over time. Setting small, realistic goals can make things feel more manageable, and staying organized helps you keep track of everything without feeling overwhelmed. It's also important to find things you enjoy at school, whether that's classes, activities, or friends, because that can make you want to be there. Staying motivated isn't about being perfect; it's about continuing to try and do your best each day.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some qualities that make a great leader include empathy, responsibility, and good communication. A great leader listens to others, understands different perspectives, and makes decisions that consider everyone's needs. They don't just focus on their own ideas but take the time to hear what others think and feel, which helps create a sense of trust and respect within a group. Being organized, approachable, and dependable also helps a leader guide their team effectively and create a positive environment.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
A leadership quality I have is accountability. I take responsibility for my actions and make sure tasks are completed properly and on time. This will help me be a good Class Officer because students and staff can rely on me to follow through on projects, organize events effectively, and help create a school environment where activities and plans succeed seamlessly.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
I believe I am qualified for the position of Junior Class Secretary because I am creative, energetic, and enjoy finding new ways to make school events and projects engaging. I have strong organizational skills when it comes to planning and coordinating activities, and I am confident in presenting ideas clearly to others. I also enjoy connecting with students and teachers to make sure everyone feels included and informed. With these abilities, I can help make our Junior year exciting, well-coordinated, and memorable for the whole class.

Homecoming Assembly script:
Welcome & Introduction:
SBO President welcomes everyone, hypes up the crowd
Introduce Game 1, led by the freshman class
Activity 1: Freshman Challenge – Human Hungry Hungry Hippos
Volunteers: 3-4 from each grade
Set Up: Place small balls on the floor, and participants use laundry baskets to scoop balls while being pushed on scooters
Instructions: Collect as many balls as possible in a set time
Finish: Count balls, announce the winning grade
Transition: Freshman class hands off to Sophomore class
Activity 2: Sophomore Challenge – Pie Face Trivia
Volunteers: 2-3 from each grade
Instructions: Ask a trivia question to one team at a time. If the team answers correctly, they earn points for their grade and stay safe from the pie. If they answer incorrectly, a team member gets a face full of whipped cream. Keep going until all questions are asked.
Finish: The team with the most points at the end wins, and the other teams get a face full of whipped cream
Transition: SBO's introduce the dance segment
Dance Showcase:
SBOs announce a joint performance from the dance, cheer, and drill teams
After the performance, it gets handed over to the Junior class for the next game
Activity 3: Junior Challenge – Snake.io
Volunteers: 5-6 from each grade
Objective: Create a "human snake" by connecting all team members with balloons
Instructions: Each team starts at one side of the gym with a pile of balloons. The first player runs across the gym, grabs a balloon, and places it between themselves and the next teammate. The balloon cannot touch the floor; if it does, the team must restart that balloon. Continue passing, placing, and connecting balloons until the "snake" reaches the finish line. The first team to complete their balloon snake without dropping any balloons wins
Finish: Announce the winning grade, cheer, and pass to the senior class
Activity 4: Senior Challenge – Hot Dog Challenge
Volunteers: 1 per grade
Instructions: Each volunteer gets one hot dog with their choice of 5 toppings (Ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, parmesan cheese, pickles, jalapenos, chili ). Students eat their hot dogs as fast as possible.
Finish: Announce the winner and transition to closing
