Hey Colts! I am running for Stampede Officer because I want to bring Cottonwoods school spirit to the MAX! I love the culture and the people at Cwood. I'm determined to make Cottonwood a fun and inclusive place for everyone to enjoy! While in office, I want to bring new activities to the table and also make sure that each student has a say in what we do. I believe that I'm qualified because I am responsible, caring, inclusive, willing to put the work in. I will work well with the other Officers as well as the students. I know how to stay positive, and lead by example during tough projects. I want to create stronger connections with everyone at our school, make an amazing community by highlighting what makes our school great. I want to make Cottonwood a place where everyone feels like they belong. GO COLTS!!
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
I would work on having a bigger student section at our Colt home games! These games are already super fun, and with more students we can support our athletes and have an even better time.
I would work on having a shoutout system for teachers and students. This way we can recognize great things that Colts have done in our school.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
Being a Colt means that you are apart of the student body. One who cares and includes everyone no matter what. Being a Colt is standing up for others and being a part of the school and it's activities. A person who is persevering, kind, and friendly. But most of all, being a Colt is someone who is not afraid to rep our school and show that amazing school spirit!
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
Everyone at Cottonwood should have a say in what we should do. Making activities that make everyone feel welcome and included is what we want to do. One way we could do that is by sending out a google form that has a bunch of activities that we can have at Cottonwood. This way students can vote on their interests, this will make them feel included. We could also have a suggestion box/google form where students can come up with their own ideas of activities and things that they want at Cottonwood. To make everyone feel welcome, we will make sure to have announcements on the activities. During the activities we can make sure to be very nice and outgoing towards people!
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
My advice that helps me stay motivated with attendance and academics is to remember why you need an education. Without an education you really can't get a good job that pays your bills or supports a family. So that's why I WANT to go to my classes, but it's not just going to your classes and sitting through it. It's about going to your classes and wanting to learn, trying your hardest to get that good grade. Cause without it, you limit yourself. You put a cap on top of your true potential. I want to have a successful life, where I can live comfortably with my own family to take care of. You need to have a strong foundation in life, give it your all right now and trust me it will pay off.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some qualities that make a good leader are: having a hard work ethic, being organized, genuinely caring, kind, sacrificing/putting others needs before yours, making things fun/joking around, including others, fearless, standing up for others, standing up for what you believe in.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
The leadership qualities that I have are, hard work ethic, organization, making things fun, being kind and including, and being able to use my voice for what I think is best at Cottonwood. I will use my voice as a Class Officer to come up with ideas that include everyone at Cottonwood. And also make them enjoyable and fun for everyone. My hard work ethic and oraganizations skills will help me collaberate with others to make sure the things we are working on actually gets done. Being a socially energetic person will definitely help me in my job as a Class Officer.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
As a Stampede Officer you need to have lots of school spirit. I definitely meet that requirement! I love going to all the games Cottonwood has to offer. And to be a part of the Volleyball Team and the Track Team. I think that I have some great ideas for our game themes next year! I think that I will be a great fit for this role because I love being involved at Cottonwood, I can bring the hype at Cwood, and I'll try my best to include everyone!
Stampede Officer
Task: Create a sample tailgate or student section party for a school sponsored event. Explain how your initiative would encourage student attendance. Additionally, create a list of 10 dress themes that could be used for the student sections at various football and basketball games.
TAILGATE: Before our Homecoming football game. We'll host a tailgate where we will have a bunch of fun games, like corn hole, spike ball, chalk, and kubb. We will barbecue hot dogs and hamburgers for everyone with lots of chips and drinks as well. This would encourage student attendance because it's free food and fun games. Also, the first 10 people to the tailgate will get some Cottonwood gear or some donuts (depending on what is easier). Students will come to this tailgate because it's the Homecoming football game! It's the biggest football game of the year.
10 dress themes: Hawian/Tropical, Blackout, Whiteout, Western, Ski Day, Neon, Pajamas, Jerseys, USA, and Colt gear.
