Hey Colts! I'm running for president because I love to team build and cooperate with others to make our school that much better. I'm great at public speaking, am not afraid to speak up for others, see what others usually brush past, am determined, and hardworking. I am good at communicating with teachers and peers, and love to problem solve. I try my best to include everyone and see what ideas they have to share. Being president is important to me because it can show how I perform under pressure, and it can show what I have to offer the school and it's students. I plan to work with the other positions and help coordinate and designate duties, but most importantly, lead. Be confident in your vote, vote Claire Riddle for your Sophomore Class President.

Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
I'll work to make our fundraisers more successful by promoting them alot. And I'll work to make school events more inclusive and fun for everyone by setting up homeroom polls, and asking for opinions on themes, activities, etc.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
To me being a colt means having pride in my school. Having pride in my school is important because it shows others that cottonwood is a great place to be. Sometimes things don't work out here at cottonwood, but keeping our spirits high and achieving our goals, shows what it really means to be a colt. Driven, spirited, and determined.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
I would promote activities and events to the best of my abilities. Making sure people have an idea of when things are happening and where. Welcoming students into a new environment by introducing myself and giving them someone to talk to who really cares what they have to say. Being as welcoming and kind as I can will help students understand that they have people around them to talk to, and let them know they are appreciated.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
Some advice I have for students to stay motivated with attending school and achieving their academic goals is setting up a plan for your future. Knowing what you want to do with your life can help you think about what steps you need to take to get there. Even without having a step by step plan finishing school and getting your diploma can give you so many more paths and choices. Keeping your future in mind and knowing your time at highschool is short can really help you put into perspective how your life can play out.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some qualities that I think make a great leader are dedication, cooperation, communication, and self awareness. Being self aware and having the ability to notice what you are doing are tweaking things about how you act and improving can help major because it will help you to become an even better version of yourself as a leader. Dedication is important because being devoted to your position and cooperating shows that you're not in that position just because it's something to do in your free time and shows that you are there for a reason. Lastly, communication is important in leadership because it's how a leader connects with people, instead of telling them what to do and when to do it.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
I am not afraid of public speaking which will help out with running for president, because being president requires a lot of speaking to students either in crowds or just one on one. This quality will help because i'll be able to communicate to the students and staff of Cottonwood.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
I'm dedicated, outgoing, and self-structured. Meaning I can do things that others may find too demanding or difficult, and I can push myself out of my comfort zone.
This team activity is called "Team Survival". We split the class officers into 4 groups, and give them a random location they are stranded. Each group must rank 10-12 items they want to take with them on the island (ex: food, water, shelter, etc.) Each round more and more of their supplies have to be taken. The goal is to work together in order to survive, pick what needs to go, and decide on a final list of items to keep them alive for 3 months. It helps people voice their opinions and share what is important, and what is less crucial for survival.
