One thing I love doing is making posters. I love working with graphic design and I love just getting on the floor and making some funny poster. I am running for office as freshman artist to make friends, have fun, and make Cottonwood a bright and fun place to be. I hope that in office I can create fun signs and boost school spirit. I am the oldest child in my family and have been the leader of many things, such as school projects or even stage crew. I work hard to keep my grades up and I always try to make wherever I go better than it used to be. I plan to represent Cottonwood High School positively and innovatively as I work together with everyone to make Cottonwood the best it can be.
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
If I am elected, next year one initiative I would work on is to help bring people together that normally wouldn't originally have met. Another initiative I would work on is boosting school spirit and helping Cottonwood be the most awesome school.
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
To me, being a Colt means that I am, like my elementary school said, respectful, responsible, and kind. I think that it is important to represent a great school by making sure others see it as great through me.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
One way I would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included is by stepping out of my comfort zone to work with other people to get ideas from everyone.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
Some advice I have to help you and me stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year is that if you just focus and work to get something done, it will happen!
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
There are many great leaders, and all of them posses many of the same qualities like creativity, problem-solving, resilience, empathy, respect, and responsibility.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
One leadership quality I have is resilience. I have encountered many problems in the things I do, and if it has taught me anything it has taught me resileince. This will help me be a good class officer at Cottonwood because in even the simplest things problems can come up, and it is really difficult to just get past it if you don't have resilience.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
Right now, I am in my school's yearbook team. I have been in this team for 2 years now, so I have helped design two school yearbooks and lots of school newspapers. Additionally, I have been in student council before, so I have helped with school leadership and with poster making.
Task: Create a sample poster (it can be scaled down) to advertise for a Homecoming Dance with a dance theme of your choosing. This needs to be hand drawn. Provide a photo of your poster. Additionally, create 2 different poster examples that can fit on one page for a Sweethearts Dance that the advisor can print and provide to the rest of Student Government to help them create their advertising poster. These can be hand drawn or digital. The other officers are required to help with making dance advertising posters, but many need to be able to copy your designs.
