I am running for secretary because I want to be more involved and make a positive impact on our class. I am organized, responsible and people can rely on me. As a secretary, you are in charge of communicating and coordinating with other schools, PTA, etc. I will make sure that the important information is shared on time and clearly. I hope to bring new ideas that make school events even more fun and to create a positive environment at CHS. I also wanna make sure everyone feels included.
Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?
If I become elected, I will focus on improving communication between students and class officers by sharing updates clearly and regularly so everyone stays informed and no one misses out on what’s going on. I will also work on organizing more engaging in fun class events that help bring students together and build spirit at CHS
Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?
To me, being a colt means being a part of a community that supports each other. It means showing school spirit and doing best and everything I do and representing CHS. Being a Colt is about kindness, responsibility, and helping make our school a place where everyone feels included and encouraged to succeed.
Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?
One way I would develop activities to make everyone feel welcome and included is by planning events that encourage everyone to participate, not just certain groups. I would also make sure different interests are represented so more students feel like they belong and they want to participate and represent who they are.
Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?
One piece of advice to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year is to set small/realistic goals. If you have a big goal in mind, create small steps and small goals to get to that big goal. When you focus on taking things one step at a time and staying consistent, it’s easier to stay on track and not get overwhelmed. If you’re having a hard time, I would remind yourself about your long-term goals because doing your small goals and doing your best every day adds up over time.
Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?
Some qualities that make a great leader are responsibility, being able to listen to others, and good communication. A strong leader is organized, you can depend on them, and they set a good example for others to follow. They are also respectful, and willing to work with others to solve problems and make decisions that help the rest of the group.
Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good Class Officer at Cottonwood?
I would say one leadership quality that I have is that I take charge. If someone or people are not certain and are indecisive I can make a decision and lead out. I also follow through with assignments or what I say I am going to do. This will help me because making plans is only having leadership. Following through is equally important.
Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?
One quality I would say I have for my intended position is that I am very outgoing and not scared to talk to adults so when I’m communicating with others it is open and easy communication. I have been in a presidency in my religion group, so I have experience communicating with others and people my age.
