I want to create a more inclusive student government. One where we acknowlage that a portion of our student body are not native english speakers. I plan on incorporating my spanish speaking skills to create more inclusive announcements. The qualifications I posses for this position are being able to inspire a room, run a project and am also fluent in spanish. Which gives me the ability to comunicate affectivly with more people. I Plan on being a student someone can rely on and get myself and more people involved in school and its events.

Question and Answer

Question #1: What are two initiatives you will work on as a Class Officer next year if you are elected?

From day one I am going to intigrate spanish into the anouncements which will have more people informed rather than just english speakers. I will also have the instagram page have not just some but all announcment posts in spanish aswell.

Question #2: What does it mean to you to be a Colt?

To me being a Colt means that I have goals not just for highschool but for the next part of my life. It also means being respectful and engaged with everyone around me while also being accountable for my actions. Last but certainly not least I am tolerant to people's opinions and values I may not agree with.

Question #3: What is one way you would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included?

One way I would help make people feel welcome and included is I would not just think about the language portion of it but also people abilities special needs, becuase not everyone has the same circumstances.

Question #4: What advice do you have to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year?

The advice I would give to students are to make goals and also make them aware that you do make mistakes but you can come back from them. No one is perfect, sail through, its never bad to ask for help and to not give up.

Question #5: What are some qualities that make a great leader?

Some qualities that make a great leader are being able to relate to people while also being able to inspire a room and lead everyone down a succsesful path. Another quality is being able to comunicate with the people you are leading.

Question #6: What is a leadership quality you have and how will it help you be a good SBO at Cottonwood?

The quality I posses is empathy and I consider each side of the situation. That will help me bee a good SBO at Cottonwood by not just making snap descisions but thoughtful ones.

Question #7: What specific qualifications do you have for your intended position?

I can show up and be there and that goes to show by my 3.5 CPA. And that goes to show that i will be there for announcments, meetings and student events. I know "anyways" is not a word

Student of the Year

This year I am proud to announce the school has decided that Asher MacKenzie is student of the year. He has shown great academic achievement and stellar attendance. Over the year he was involved in school activities and was able to make great relationships with not just the students but the his teachers. Overall he has been an amazing student and is well earned this honor.

Task: Create a sample intercom announcement (written out) advertising a student (of your choice) as a Student of the Year winner. Additionally create 3 social media posts to encourage your particular grade to attend 3 events (of your choice) at Cottonwood.
