I am running for Dance Officer because I want to help create fun and memorable events that bring the Cottonwood community together. School dances are a big part of the high school experience, and I want to make sure they are exciting, welcoming and inclusive for all students. As someone who is outgoing and involved in school activities, I really enjoy connecting with others and listening to different ideas. I believe strong communication and teamwork are important qualities for an SBO. If elected, I hope to help plan engaging dances and events while representing Cottonwood High School in a positive way. My goal is to help create an environment where every student feels welcomed, included, and proud to be a Colt.
One initiative I would work on is improving school dances by introducing more creative themes and interactive elements, to get as much participation as possible and to make them more memorable and fun for students. Another initiative I would focus on is creating a system where students can submit ideas or vote on things like dance themes or playlists so school events better reflect what the student body actually wants.
To me, being a Colt means having pride in our school while also valuing inclusivity and making sure every student feels welcome and supported. It means showing up for our community, supporting school events and activities and helping create an environment where everyone feels like they belong.
One way I would develop activities to make everyone at Cottonwood feel welcome and included is by creating events that allow students to share their ideas and interests, such as letting students vote on themes, music or activities for school events. This helps make sure events reflect the whole student body and gives more people a reason to participate.
My advice to stay motivated with attendance and academics throughout the year is to stay organized and remember your goals for the future. Showing up to class consistently and staying on top of assignments makes school less stressful and helps you stay focused on what you want to achieve.
Some qualities that make a great leader are strong communication, responsibility and inclusivity. A great leader wants everyone to feel as connected as possible, works hard to represent everyone fairly, and helps create a positive environment where people feel supported and motivated.
One leadership quality I have is being outgoing, which helps me communicate easily with different people and build connections. Like I mentioned before, strong communication is an important part of leadership and being outgoing helps me listen to students’ ideas and represent them well. I think this will help me as an SBO because I can bring energy to school events while also making sure students feel heard and included.
