Meet Mrs. Rains

I was raised in New England but moved to Texas when I was 15 years old. I graduated from Granbury High School in 1989. From there, I went to Texas A&M University and graduated with a B.S. in Biomedical Science from the College of Veterinary Medicine. At that point, my goal was to be a veterinarian but I soon found out I was meant to be an animal owner not an animal doctor. After some soul searching and marriage (into a family of SEVERAL teachers), I decided to pursue a career in education. I'm so glad I did!! I earned my teaching certification through Tarleton State University in 1996. I am currently certified to teach Pre-K through 6th grade, Gifted and Talented, and English as a Second Language.

I have been teaching at Oak Woods since 1996. In 2000, I took a few years off to stay home with my babies and I returned to the classroom in 2003. At this time, I teach 4th grade Math and Science. I enjoy finding new ways to teach our curriculum and to make learning fun. I believe that it is my job to not only educate your child but to nurture their social and personal growth.
