6th Grade science is based on Earth and the physical sciences. We begin with geological units about our planet and its layers and systems, minerals, rocks and the rock formation cycle. We study plate tectonics and plate boundaries and how they form the landscape and cause events such as volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. We then move into outer space and study our solar system, gravity and the history of space exploration. Towards December our class will focus on energy, force and motion. The Spring semester turns to an introduction of chemistry and the Periodic Table of Elements and then finish the year up with cells, ecosystems and organism classification.
