Additional Materials Needed

Suggested Outside Readings

I highly encourage students to stay up on current events+the news, in addition to what we cover in class. It would be best to visit multiple sites and compare for media bias/POV, some of my go-to's would be BBC News, Fox News, CNN, Al Jazeera, etc.

The AP Human Geo. test requires a LOT of contextual reference...meaning you need a PLETHORA of examples to pull from (within in your brain) to answer ANY array of topics on the test (in multiple choice form+written form). Therefore, these are books to help further create insight for students. Most are non-fiction, but the fictional texts still grapple with REAL events+human/cultural situations which allows for the broader APHuG context to be seen, as well.

*I will also add to this list throughout the year...

NO CELL PHONES

For 50 minutes, each day, students will detox from their phones, (there is a .000001% we would use it for something in class). We will focus on our interpersonal and face-to-face communication/social skills.

Absolutely no phones are allowed in class, there is only a CHARGING STATION in class--rules are as follows...

  • Phones MUST be plugged in the SANCTIONED AREA by the time the BELL RINGS. You should not be standing over in that area when the bell rings or after.
  • I will NOT and CANNOT write a pass because you are late dealing with your phone or grabbing it from the charging station.
  • If your phone is out, there will be 1 warning--this will also result in a parent contact. The 2nd Time, it will go to the office, you will receive a referral, and you will pay to retrieve the phone at the front office ($10).

Now for the good... POCKET POINTS
