Graham County Schools.
Robert Moody
Robert Moody is the Safe Schools' Director and Superintendent for Graham County Schools. Prior to shifting to Central Office, Mr. Moody was a science teacher at Robbinsville Middle School for 14 years and later went on to serve as the principal at RMS for five years. He received his Bachelors in Education from Western Carolina University and decided to pursue his Masters in School Administration from Lincoln Memorial University. Mr. Moody has a love for Bible History and furthered his education at Liberty University with a second Master's degree in Christian Ministries. He is passionate about keeping students safe and building good relationships. He is married to his wife Nikki and has two children Sydney and Garrett. He enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren as well.
Sunny Jenkins
Sunny Jenkins is the district Mental Health Liaison. She is a licensed Mental Health Clinician. She has had formal training in trauma focused therapy and in EMDR. Sunny obtained her professional degree from Lenoir Rhyne University and joined our team in 2021. She serves students in the K-12 setting who present with crisis situations and trains teachers and staff members on topics related to mental health. Sunny is always smiling and seeks to form strong bonds with students who are struggling. Sunny spends her time away from school with her animals or traveling. She is also assisting Gentry in gaining his therapy dog title.
Dale Walsh
Dale Walsh has been the Robbinsville Middle School Guidance Counselor for the past 10 years with an additional 4 years of community college counseling experience. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Western Carolina University. In addition, prior to becoming the middle school counselor, Dale had 25 plus years’ experience as a Regional Human Resource Manager with Fortune 500 Forest Products companies. He is married with one son and enjoys sports, fishing, and golfing.
Amanda Daniels
Amanda “Shandy” Daniels is the School Counselor for Robbinsville High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Western Carolina University in 2012. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma University with a Master of School Counseling in 2022. She loves helping teenagers prepare for the next steps in their lives and is quick to credit her co-workers for her successful first year in the Guidance Department. “I work for the best school system on earth. We have a wonderful staff who loves the students, their jobs, and each other."
Katrina Nelms
Katrina Nelms is the school social worker for Robbinsville High and Middle school. Katrina Nelms received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Western Carolina University and her school social work licensure from NC State University. She has ten years experience in the social work field with seven of those being specific to school social work. Katrina has completed many trainings focused around mental health and sexual abuse. Katrina’s sole purpose at RHS and RMS is to ensure each and every student in need has someone to go to for supportive listening, positive feedback, and to obtain any and all resources available. Katrina offers her office up to all students as a safe and comfortable space. Katrina invites students and parents to contact her with any need that may come up throughout the school year. If she can’t help them she will find someone who can. Katrina wants every student to feel supported and equal at RHS and RMS.
Jeff Knight
Jeff Knight is a native of Graham County and has served in law enforcement for 23 + years. His experience has primarily been at Robbinsville Elementary School where he served as SRO for 19 years. In 2020 Jeff decided to shift to the Graham County Sheriff's Office where he worked as a detective and Captain of Investigations In 2023, Jeff was presented with an opportunity to return to Graham County Schools as SRO at Robbinsville Middle and High Schools. Jeff enjoys fishing, camping, and coaching baseball in his free time. He is married to Angie Knight, Superintendent of Graham County Schools and they have two children and one grandchild.
Josh Reap
Officer Josh Reap serves as the School Resource Officer at Robbinsville Elementary School. With six years of law enforcement experience, mostly in Graham County, he began his career in Georgia before joining the North Carolina Sheriff's Department in 2019. Officer Reap is also actively involved in the community, coaching both football and middle school basketball, and enjoys spending time fishing with kids. He is married to Becca Reap, and together they have six children, with a grandchild on the way. Officer Reap completed his law enforcement training at the academy in Rome, Georgia, and furthered his education at Tri-County Community College, earning a degree in Criminal Justice in 2023. He is passionate about building positive relationships with students, especially those facing challenging home environments, to help guide them toward success.
Trudy Brackett
Trudy Brackett is the Lead School Nurse for Graham County Schools, and the primary nurse for Robbinsville Middle and High Schools. She joined the GCS team in 2021, and enjoys helping students achieve success in the classroom, as well as on a personal level. Trudy believes in treating the whole child, not just their condition or illness, and says her favorite part of her job is getting to build relationships with her students.
Trudy grew up in Sylva, NC where she obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing from Southwestern Community College in 2004. She then went on to get her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing from Western Governors University in 2007, and her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona at Tucson in 2016.
Her areas of clinical practice experience include perioperative services, employee and occupational health, primary care, nursing leadership/management with a focus in team building and conflict resolution, and most recently, school health services. Trudy received her National Board Certification in School Nursing in October 2022.
Trudy currently lives with her family in Nantahala, NC. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, spoiling her Australian Shepherd, outdoor activities, and reading.
Latesha Wiggins
Latesha Wiggins is native of Robbinsville and loves her community. She began her career in 2000 at Tri County Community College after graduating from Western Carolina University with a degree in Speech Language Pathology and a minor in Special Education. After shifting to the public school setting in Cherokee County, she determined she was passionate about helping children and their families and chose to pursue her Master's degree in School Counseling. After completion of this program Latesha decided it was time to shift back to Robbinsville, her home, to serve the students in her own community. In 2008, she was hired as the elementary school counselor and worked in this capacity until 2015. In 2015, Mrs. Wiggins moved to Central Office where she became the preschool coordinator. While she formed strong bonds with Pre-K staff and this age group, in 2021, the opportunity presented for her to take a role in Student Support where she supervises counselors, social workers, and nurses. In her free time she can be found reading, canning, traveling with her husband Michael and spending time with her grown children Emma and Isaac.
Jordan Welch
Jordan Welch graduated in 2013 from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Disorders and a minor in Psychology. Since 2019, she has worked on the campus of Robbinsville Elementary School in the Student Support Center as the Behavioral Specialist for grades K-5. Jordan's patient attitude and kindheartedness allows her to intervene with students who are struggling to show them how to manage their emotions and behaviors so they can thrive in their classroom. In 2023, Jordan accepted a position as the School Based Specialist for Robbinsville Elementary and was accepted to Grand Canyon University where she is pursing her Masters degree in Social Work. She is married and has one daughter. Jordan says she works for the best school system in Western NC. Go Black Knights!
Amber Davis
Amber Davis is a Robbinsville native who began her career in education in 2007 and has been the RES school counselor since 2015. She has worked on all three Graham County Schools campuses in various roles, including ESL coordinator, GEAR UP coordinator, and school counselor. She received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology from Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!) then a Master's degree in School Counseling from Western Carolina University. She is married and has two daughters who attend RES. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
