Step 1:
Enroll in Driver Education 30 hour Course or pass Proficiency Test. Before taking the Proficiency Test or enrolling in a 30 hour class, the student will be given a Restricted Instruction Permit (SBTS-800). Student must fill out the top portion of this form and have parent/guardian/lawful custodian sign in the space provided and return to Drivers Ed staff at RHS along with $65.00 fee.

Step 2:
After passing the Proficiency Test or completing the 30 hour Class, the insturctors will let them do the eye screening. Requirements are having at least 20/40 in either eye or both eyes at once.
Step 3:
Wait on one of the instructors to call to schedule the Behind the Wheel portion of the process. Upon completion of the Behind the Wheel process, the instructor will give the student a Driver Education Certificate(DEC).
Step 4:
When the student reaches 15 years of age, they can take the required documents (as stated on the DEC) to the NC DMV Driver License Examiner and attempt to get a Level I Learner's Permit.
