14th November 2025
Quote of the week from Mrs Bana
“Life is like a mirror: if you frown at it, it frowns back; but if you smile, it returns the greeting.” — William Makepeace Thackeray
It brings me great joy to see pupils at Grafton enjoying themselves—in class, on the playground, or simply walking through the corridors with a friendly smile. Thank you for encouraging your children to greet everyone they meet and treat others with kindness and respect. These daily acts of positivity build a welcoming and inclusive school community where all pupils can thrive.
On 11th November, during our Armistice Day two-minute silence, a local postman passing by was deeply impressed by the exceptional respect shown by our pupils, especially those in EYFS and KS1, who observed complete silence. This moment beautifully exemplifies the strong social and emotional skills we nurture at Grafton, including self-regulation, empathy, and respect—skills essential for life beyond school.
Headteacher Parent Forum Minutes
Thank you to everyone who attended Headteacher’s Parent Forum this week! Your ideas and input are invaluable. Please take a moment to review the minutes, which include key updates, discussions, and action points. Your continued involvement helps shape a stronger school community - Minutes
📸School Photo Consent
In school, we take photographs for a variety of reasons and tasks. This is normal practice in all schools. The photographs are used to support the children's learning, record their achievements and celebrate life in school.
The photographs maybe used on our website, in our newsletters and other correspondence, in our prospectus, to record the children’s attainment and to showcase our school. As a school, we do not at this time use social media platforms such as Facebook or X.
In accordance with the latest GDPR guidance, we will no longer be asking for consent for your child’s photograph to be taken or shared by the school as we will be relying on public task as lawful basis for processing this data.
We will always keep you up to date with events and we do ask parents to only use photographs taken at sports days or concerts/assemblies for their own personal use. We would also inform you if your child’s photograph were being taken for a newspaper article.
If you would like any further information on how the school process your data, please see the schools privacy notice on the website and if you would like to opt out of your child being photographed in school, please complete the form - Photo Consent Opt Out Form
Autumn Term Parent/Carer Workshop Feedback Form
We would like to thank all of our parents/carers for attending our workshops we hope you found them useful. At Grafton Primary School we value feedback from parents to ensure we deliver our workshops effectively. We would really appreciate if you could take a few minutes to provide us with some important feedback about our workshops. This will be used to improve our workshops further. Where possible, power point slides have been shared with parents/carers following the workshop.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair last term! Thanks to your enthusiasm and love of reading, we made an incredible £1,386 in book sales!
This fantastic total means the school will receive £738 to spend on brand-new books for our classrooms. Our amazing Reading Ambassadors will be helping to choose some exciting new titles to brighten up our reading corners and inspire even more wonderful reading adventures.
Thank you once again for your amazing support — every book purchased helps us build a stronger, happier reading community here at school!
📚 Lost Books and Reading Records – Replacement Charges
Please note that if a child loses a school book or reading record, a replacement charge will apply.
Books: £5 each
Reading Record: £1 each
We encourage children to take care of their books and diaries, as this helps us maintain resources for all children.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our reading materials in good condition.
Important Notice: Children’s Passport Applications
Please note that school is unable to act as a countersignatory for children’s UK passport applications. While some schools may offer this service, it is not mandatory, and due to administrative requirements, we are unable to accommodate such requests.
Important Notice: Nursery Gate
We would like to remind all parents that the nursery gate opens at 8:30am and is for nursery children only. Please line up in the playground, and once your child has entered, we kindly ask that you leave the school grounds. If you have an older child in another year group, please wait outside the gates.
The main school gates open at 8:40am for all other year groups.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and well-organised start to the day for everyone.
