Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to a new school year at Grafton Primary! It has been wonderful to see our children return full of excitement and ready to learn. This term brings fresh opportunities with new class names and routines, and while it may take a little time to settle into drop-off and pick-up arrangements, we appreciate your patience and cooperation. We are committed to making this year a positive and successful journey for every child, and we look forward to sharing all the exciting learning and experiences ahead.
Warm regards,
Junaida Bana

School Trips – Information and Consent
As part of our broad and balanced curriculum, we organise a variety of school trips to enhance pupils learning experiences. These include local visits during the school day, day coach trips, and educational visits to places such as museums, galleries, or cultural landmarks in London and the wider area.
We are writing to clarify how consent for such visits is managed.
In line with our legal responsibilities and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the school relies on the 'public task' lawful basis when processing pupil
information for educational visits and trips. This means that, for activities which are part of our educational offer – including low-risk local visits, day coach trips, or day visits to London – we do not require separate parental consent, as these are considered part of our public duty as a school.
Please note that while we aim to return to school at the stated time, delays can
occasionally occur due to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic. In such cases, we will contact parents as soon as possible with updated information. The school cannot accept responsibility for delays that are beyond our control, but we will always ensure the safety and supervision of pupils until they are collected or dismissed.
We also want to reassure you that parents and carers will always be notified in advance of any planned trip. You will receive a letter with full details including the purpose of the visit, dates and times, travel arrangements, cost (if any), and any expectations for the day (e.g.packed lunch, school uniform, suitable clothing).
We will continue to seek specific consent for:
Residential trips
Trips involving high-risk activities (e.g. water sports or climbing)
Trips taking place outside of normal school hours
If you have any concerns about your child taking part in any trip or would like to discuss individual circumstances, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us to provide valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.
School Photo Consent
In school, we take photographs for a variety of reasons and tasks. This is normal practice in all schools. The photographs are used to support the children's learning, record their achievements and celebrate life in school.
The photographs maybe used on our website, in our newsletters and other correspondence, in our prospectus, to record the children’s attainment and to showcase our school.
As a school, we do not at this time use social media platforms such as Facebook or X.
In accordance with the latest GDPR guidance, we will no longer be asking for consent for your child’s photograph to be taken or shared by the school as we will be relying on public task as lawful basis for processing this data.
We will always keep you up to date with events and we do ask parents to only use photographs taken at sports days or concerts/assemblies for their own personal use. We would also inform you if your child’s photograph were being taken for a newspaper article.
If you would like any further information on how the school process your data, please see the schools privacy notice on the website and if you would like to discuss or opt out of your child being photographed in school, please contact the school office.
