Individual counseling is available to all students who want and need it. Students may speak with the counselor to share concerns, thoughts and feelings which may impede their academic or social development. Students receiving counseling may be assisted in making decisions, setting goals to improve school performance and discuss personal or social issues.
Small groups are formed on an as needed basis throughout the year to give students an opportunity to discuss common themes with their peers. Topics may include friendships, self-esteem, drug and alcohol concerns, grief/loss, divorce, and stress management.
All 6-8 students participate in the Developmental Guidance Program. This program is designed to promote growth in Personal/Social, Academic and Career-Vocational areas. Classroom counseling curriculum topics include: self-understanding and self-esteem, friendship, decision-making and career exploration.
