Urban vertical schools is a spatial response to the growing urban population and land scarcity and has become a phenomenon in large cities like Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore in the recent years. Paradoxically, a concerning number of schools are being are sacrificed at the alter of urban development over the years, displacing students and severing their connection to well-established learning environments. This thesis proposes a counterpoint to this narrative, where relocation of school is not a monolithic solution to urban challenges. By transforming the abandoned school in Jalan Ampang and readapt it into a new typology of school, it not only able to cater to the current need of education but also foster a critical dialogue on the capitalist forces that contribute to inequities in urban education.
