Fishermen Community Center @ Kampung Sungai Melayu

The aim of this research is to design a daylight-optimized Fishermen Community Center within mangrove forests for the sustainable growth of the fishermen community by increasing their incomes through higher landing values, preserving their fishing heritage and traditional marine ecological knowledge. Mangrove play a crucial role in supporting fishing and eco-tourism activities, forming the basis of the economy of Kampung Sungai Melayu. Therefore, mangroves must be carefully preserved as to protect the ecological environment. Through simulation studies, it has been found that skylight and building envelope design are effective in improving the daylighting performance of buildings in environmentally sensitive areas. The center aims to serve as a hub for fishermen community activities, education, and tourism.
