VALUES THROUGH WOOD ART UPCYCLING, LEARNING AND ARCHIVING DATA 

In the environment of architectural design and construction, there is a growing imperative to integrate sustainable practices that harmonize with local needs and cultural background. In this project we are revisiting traditional method of sustainability and its possible implementation in modern context, it is also proven its validity by calculating and comparing its embodied carbon content in building materials. Rapid re-development process in city centre affects its local identity and cultural continuity, the preservation of these cultural identity and the pursuit of environmental responsibility become increasingly intertwined, thus a more vernacular way or method is needed. The essence lies in the exploration of upcycling materials, a practice that breathes new life into discarded elements while concurrently addressing the embodied carbon footprint in construction. By investigating the embodied carbon in building materials, we aim to quantify and understand the environmental impact of our architectural choices, steering the discourse towards a more ecologically conscious future. The Wood Art Upcycling Centre serves as a microcosm, exemplifying the potential of upcycling in not only preserving cultural heritage but also in reducing the ecological footprint associated with contemporary construction practices
