Understanding that a school district is a direct reflection of the community it serves, the school board and leadership team of Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley School District is committed to a facility planning strategy that reflects the priorities of the taxpayers and meets the needs of our students and communities.

To ensure future facility decisions make sense for students, are fiscally responsible, and have community support, our commitment to the residents of CGB will include expanded communication with District residents:

The CGB School Board will establish a master plan to address physical, functional, and educational needs based on stakeholder input, identified needs, and funding.

It was a great success with wonderful attendance, participation and questions.

The Work of the Community Advisory Committee

The Community Advisory Committee is a dedicated group of community members focused on delivering their insight and input to the CGB School Board as the board plans for the future of our schools.

During these meetings, this team will cover the following:

Demographics
Assessment of facilities
Current programming and education practices
Facility tours
School finance 101
The financial health of the district

We are grateful to our community members for continuing to be a part of this process and providing input for the District to consider as we explore the options for moving forward with our facility planning.

Committee Meeting Highlights

Meeting #1: May 17, 2023

The Community Advisory Committee reviewed and made a list of items such as:
- - Things they would brag about the school district.
  - What worries them about the future of CBG schools.
  - What they wonder about CBG schools.
The committee was told that the School Board has not yet made any decisions about the future of the CGB school facilities. The School Board requested a Community Advisory Committee be formed, and in-turn that committee would send them a recommendation at the conclusion of the process.
They talked about how schools and teaching have changed throughout the years.
The committee gave their opinions on how schools can best educate, prepare, and support all learners for future success.
They discussed the projected increase in enrollment and how open enrollment impacts the District.

Meeting #2: May 24, 2023

The community advisory committee:
- Reviewed CBG’s facility assessment report
- Superintendent Kelvington gave a tour of the elementary school (secondary to come)
- Brainstormed potential project ideas
- Reviewed some design scenarios
- Discussed options

Meeting #3: May 31, 2023

The community advisory committee:
- Reviewed the High School Facility Assessment Report by SitelogIQ engineers
- Toured the high school with Superintendent Brad Kelvington and Dean of Activities Ben Blees.
- Reviewed options for a potential addition to the high school, which would make it a K-12 building.
- Broke into small groups and did a plus/minus exercise with all of the potential options.

Meeting #4: June 7, 2023

The community advisory committee:
- Heard from the district’s financial advisor, Baker Tilly, about how schools are funded and potential tax impacts
- Learned about the process of district consolidation – the process, the potential positive outcomes and the potential negative impacts
- Groups established their priorities for the CGB school district for the future

Meeting #5: June 14, 2023

After 5 meetings and 12+ hours, the CGB Community Advisory Committee, a broad and dedicated cross-section of the community, reached a clear majority consensus on their facility findings that they will recommend to the board on Wednesday, June 21. The committee's recommendations will help the School Board develop the district's facility planning strategy.
We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the committee members for their time, dedication, and commitment to CGB Schools. We are extremely grateful for their partnership in shaping the future of our schools, students, and community.
