READING: Explicit instruction in letter sounds following the Science of Reading best practices, CVC word families, digraphs, consonant blends, syllables, Decodable texts, literature studies, story elements, predicions, sequencing, and story mapping using quality children's literature.
MATH: Number recognition, counting, shapes, tallying, measuring, comparing, basic addition and subtraction, using the Reveal Math curriculum through McGraw Hill. Hands on manipulatives and games will provide supplemental tactile experiences.
LANGUAGE: Letter formation, line usage, punctuation, parts of speech, and basic sentence structure
BIBLE: Old Testament stories, New Testament stories, and Bible verse memorization through the Concordia Enduring Faith Curriculum
SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES: Colors, plants, pumpkins, Turkeys, Reindeer, Holidays, Arctic animals, Presidents and other historical figures/events, Solar System, Zoo animals, and Insects

Our Kindergarten program offers a nurturing and enriching environment designed to support the unique and diverse needs of emergent learners.
Field trips to the zoo, the planetarium, the pumpkin patch, the children's museum and various plays.
Three musical productions each year: Grandparent's Day, Christmas Musical production, annual Spring Broadway Jr. Musical Production
Children make friends and solve social problems while engaging in indoor and outdoor playtime and worktime opportunities throughout the day.

Enduring Faith Kindergarten curriculum covers the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in engaging lessons and activities.
Weekly chapel services to participate with the entire student body in praising the Lord through song and Word.
Faith integration in all subjects and situations
Opportunities to demonstrate Christ-like character through kindness, shairng, and encouragement.
Children learn the Lord's prayer and are encouraged to participate in daily prayers understanding that they can talk to God through prayer any time.
Weekly Bible memory verses
Children will develop a foundation of faith knowing that God created them and loves them.

Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher
Joanne Cook was called to serve at Grace Christian School in 1989. She is a graduate of Concordia College, Bronxville, NY where she majored in Elementary Education with a concentration in Music Education. She has taught Kindergarten, First, Second, Third and Fourth grade classes, as well as K-6 classroom music, and 7-12 Drama elective. She has directed over 35 school musicals, both for Grace Christian and Visalia Christian Schools, and co-directed several plays for the Enchanted Playhouse Theatre Company.

Mrs. Cook lives in Visalia. When she isn't at school, she loves spending time with her husband, children, and her two grandchildren at home, church, the park, a ball field, or a theater enjoying their favorite things together!
