In 2024, the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board approved a major facility improvement project at the elementary school, funded entirely by SAVE (Secure an Advanced Vision for Education) dollars.
SAVE is a statewide 1-cent sales tax dedicated to school infrastructure projects and does not impact local property taxes.

Separate line-item accounting records must be kept for all bond related expenses to ensure the funds are being used legally and appropriately. The School District’s finances are audited annually including use of SAVE funds. The independent auditor then turns over the audit information to the state of Iowa. SAVE project expenses would be a part of the annual audit until all funds are spent.
The school board will choose the project contractors, not SitelogIQ. State law requires that contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder.
How can excess bond funds be used?
Iowa law restricts spending to infrastructure and tax relief and mandates annual reporting, board oversight, and audits.
