About

Ms. Tammy

This will be my first year as a preschool teacher at Gretna Public Schools and Harvest Hills Elementary. I previously worked for 10 years as a paraprofessional in GPS in the preschool classrooms before I decided to return to school to become a teacher. I have also worked as a classroom preschool teacher in Papillion-LaVista, as a substitute in Millard and Elkhorn, and teach summer school to first graders at Millard.

My family has lived in Gretna since 1997. My husband and I have four grown children who attended GPS from kindergarten to graduation. Two of them attended the same preschool program our classroom is in. As a former accountant and stay-at-home parent, this is how I became interested in education. Two of my children are married. Two of them live out of state (not the same two). My husband and I love to travel, hike, work outdoors in the yard and gardens, and attend Nebraska football, NFL and MLB games. Our favorite teams include: Huskers, Dallas Cowboys (hubby), Kansas City Chiefs (mine), Kansas City Royals, and Chicago Cubs. Our whole family loves dogs and have even added another since the picture below, ironically the very day I posted this picture to the website. Thank goodness only three live with me!

There is not a day in preschool that does not make me smile, and sometimes chuckle. It is the best job in the world to be working with children, watching them grow, and getting caught up in their delight!

Education: Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Inclusive from University of Nebraska-Omaha, Masters of Early Childhood from Northwest Missouri State University (in progress)

My birthday: October 2

My favorite things to do: visit my kids, walk my dogs, work in my garden, eat chocolate, watch TV and movies
