Dear Fourth Grade Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Carli Stockton and I will be your fourth-grade teacher this year. I hope you are excited to come back to school and have a magical year at Harvest Hills!
This is my 16th year of teaching with Gretna Public Schools - WOW! - but my FIRST year teaching at Harvest Hills, so if you are a little nervous about school starting, I am too! I have taught at several Gretna Schools before coming here to be with you, though. I started teaching at Gretna Elementary and then opened up Whitetail Creek Elementary. After that, I opened up Falling Waters Elementary. But then I was asked to come and teach YOU at Harvest Hills and I said, “YES!” I am really excited to now be at Harvest Hills Elementary with my new class! I have taught fifth grade for the last 11 years and will be coming back to fourth grade, so we will have fun together learning new things this year.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNO, a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College, and a Masters Degree in Math Education from UNL. I always loved going to school and I wish I could be a full time student!
Personally speaking, my favorite title is “mom”. I have four kids and all of them will be at different schools this year so we will be busy! I have a 9th grader named Maddox who goes to GHS, a 6th grader named Lily who goes to GMS, a 2nd grader named Brinley who is also at Harvest Hills, and a one year old named Isabella who goes to daycare. But, my two favorite kids are furry dogs named Graham and Hattie. Needless to say, we are a busy family!
I filled this summer driving my kids all over town to all of their activities, but we also made time for the pool, lake, camping, and doing home renovations. Maybe I even saw you and your family and we didn’t even realize it!
Here are just a few important reminders to start off the school year:
Open House will be on Tuesday, August 8th from 5:00-7:00. You can bring all of your school supplies and organize yourself for the first day of school.
We have an early lunch this year at 10:55, so you can bring a snack for the afternoon, if you’d like.
I will email your parents on Monday, August 7th, with some extra information. In the meantime, they can email me at cstockton@gpsne.org with questions or concerns about this school year.
I am really looking forward to a great 2023-2024 school year. I think you’ll find our class is really fun, talkative, inclusive, and a welcoming place for everyone to learn together. I hope you are as excited as I am to start this new school year. There are so many things to look forward to this year and I truly believe fourth grade will be your best year of school yet. I passionately believe in what I do and can’t wait to begin this year!
