Meet the Librarians

Mrs. Carmen Schickert

This is my tenth year as a librarian in Gretna.  My first six years were at Thomas Elementary and this is my third year here at Harvest Hills.  Before this, I taught 4th grade for 12 years in Gretna as well.  I absolutely love being in the library and having the opportunity to work with your children.

I grew up in California, but have lived in Gretna now for 21 years with my husband Lance (School Resource Officer at GHS) and my two sons, Mason and Nick.  Both of our sons live in Lincoln.  Mason is married and Nick will be married this coming October!  We also have a spoiled German Shepherd named Gunnar.  As a family we love to travel, spend time together and play games.  I, of course, also love to read and discuss books!

I am very excited to be the librarian here at Harvest Hills. Getting to know your children, helping them find books that interest them, researching topics and answering questions are a few of the things that I love to do daily.  We have many great things planned for this year including an author visit, a One School - One Book program, and of course our book fair as well as many other activities.

Mrs. Alicia Hoffman

This is my forth year working for Gretna Public Schools.   I started as a Kindergarten/1st grade para at Falling Waters Elementary and this will be my third year in the library at Harvest Hills.  Before I working in the schools, I ran my own in-home daycare for ten years.

I have been married to my husband Aaron for 16 years and have 3 children.  Dylan is going into 8th grade, Evan will be in 6th grade and Olivia is going into 3rd grade.  They will attend Aspen Creek Middle School and Aspen Creek Elementary.

When I am not at school, I am usually at a ball field of some sort.  Between baseball, football and basketball, the kids keep us busy!  In the little free time I get, I enjoy reading, gardening, cooking and baking!

I am looking forward to returning to the library and continuing to share my love of reading with all of the children at Harvest Hills!
