Dear Families,

Many "thank you's" are in order! this week.  I want to thank all our parents, families, PTO, and staff members for a successful Fun Run!  Our PTO did an amazing job organizing this event and partnering with our community to ensure exciting prizes!  Thank you to all of our families for your donations, volunteering to mark laps and cheering on your students!   And, thank you to our staff members for running with our students, communicating with families, and working collaboratively with PTO.

Also, thank you to Mrs. Zech and Mrs. Gibbons as well as the numerous staff that volunteered to host a successful Scholastic Book fair.  The funds made from our book fair will pay for additional library books and online services to keep our library growing!

Lastly, if you haven't already, be sure to let your teacher(s) know your day and time preferences for Parent Teacher Conferences.

Thank you all so much!   Enjoy your first official weekend of Fall!

Teacher Trolley

Just like our students have a special school store (to earn prizes!), we have a snack cart for teachers!  This gives teachers a little extra energizer during the day.  We are currently working on putting together the cart of snacks and fun that we can surprise our teachers once a month or so.   If you are interested in donating to our cart - CLICK HERE.  These are just ideas, we will accept any snacks or fun office/teacher items. Thanks so much!

Parents are able to access their child's lunch account online.  Visit our Food & Nutrition Services website here.  Accounts and payment information can be found here.

If you should have any questions regarding your child’s lunch account, please feel free to contact our lunch paraprofessional, Mrs. Kelly Leahy at  402-332-3938 or kleahy@gpsne.org.

Students are welcome to celebrate their birthdays at school!  Please be sure treats are store bought.  Check with your child's teacher if they are a nut-free classroom.

To help your child's birthday celebration run smoothly, please send the treats with your child to school in the morning.

Guests are welcome to join us at lunch. There will be special "Guest" tables set up in the lunchroom for you and your child to eat.  Your child will not be allowed to invite another student to eat with them at the guest table.

We do ask that you limit lunch visits to birthdays only until after Labor Day to allow for us to teach expectations and help students learn the routines and procedures.  Thank you for your help and understanding.

Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade all learned about the Zones of Regulation this last couple of weeks in Guidance/Health.

The Zones of Regulation is a program that was designed to help kids recognize how their body feels and to recognize emotions.

Green Zone-Like a green light, I am ready to "GO."  I feel calm and confident and ready to learn or accomplish my goals.

Blue Zone-Have you ever heard the phrase, "Feeling Blue?"  In the Blue Zone you don't feel like doing much.  You may not have much energy and it's hard to get your body moving.

Yellow Zone-Like a yellow traffic light, this is when we feel like we are starting to lose some control and we need to slow down.  You might feel nervous or worried and cannot focus on what's happening around you.  This is when our heart rate starts to excel.

Red Zone-In the Red Zone we have lost ALL control.  This is where yelling, hitting, and throwing things can occur.  Your heart may be pounding hard and your body temperature really rises.  The best thing to do if you are in the Red Zone is to put yourself in Time Out.  Take a break and cool off.

Please feel free to contact Mrs. Hall, shall@gpsne.org with questions!
