25th 1st Grade Music Program - Rescheduled

Dear Families,

We are having a great time celebrating the season!  Today, our kindergarteners will be having a gingerbread day in our cafeteria.   Next week, our afternoon preschool class will be performing in their music program and we will have a  seasonal activity in the classroom on conclude the week.  As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL from Friday, December 22nd- Wednesday, January 3rd.

Thank you again to those who have taken ornaments from our Giving Tree.  We still have ornaments available if you are  interested in taking one.

Gretna Preschool is now scheduling peer screenings for the 2024-2025 school year.  If you have a child that will be 3 or 4 years old and are interested in them attending our preschool, this screening is a requirement.  Find out more information HERE and to sign your child up for the screening.

I'd like to note that  after winter break, 2nd graders will be offered the option of "seconds" at lunchtime.  If you are a 2nd grade parent, it would be a good time to review your expectations with your child as to whether or not you would like your child to have seconds.  There is a charge for seconds, so please contact Ms. Kelly at kleahy@gpsne.org or 402-332-3938 if you prefer your child to eat school lunch only with NO seconds. Thanks so much!

I hope everyone has a restful winter break and that the holiday season is filled with love and joy for all!  Our next newsletter will be sent when we come back from our holiday break!

Below is a photo of our "Giving Tree".  It is located in our front office and has different ornaments on it with different needs for families.

Staff Favorites

This time of year I have many families ask if there is a teacher favorites list.  We do keep them in our front office, but we also have it linked here for your convience.

Thanks so much!

Students are welcome to celebrate their birthdays at school!  Please be sure treats are store bought.  Check with your child's teacher if they are a nut-free classroom.

To help your child's birthday celebration run smoothly, please send the treats with your child to school in the morning.

Guests are welcome to join us at lunch. There will be special "Guest" tables set up in the lunchroom for you and your child to eat.  Your child will not be allowed to invite another student to eat with them at the guest table.

We do ask that you limit lunch visits to birthdays only until after Labor Day to allow for us to teach expectations and help students learn the routines and procedures.  Thank you for your help and understanding.
