The Musical Theater Class is a year-long course in which students learn the fundamentals of vocal and theater performance with a musical production at the conclusion of the year. In years past, GMS has put on shows like Beetlejuice JR, Mean Girls JR, Into the Woods JR, and for the 2025-26 school year will perform Legally Blonde JR. The course is designed to encourage your student to perform as a team while giving them confidence on the stage.
Enrollment in the course is very limited and competitive. To be considered for the class, students must meet two requirements: the student must audition for one of the available spots, and the student must be co-enrolled in a GMS performance ensemble (band, choir, orchestra). The latter requirement is to ensure that students who participate in the course have a general understanding of music reading, theory, and performance necessary to produce a musical production.Â
Auditions take place in the spring for acceptance into the following school year. i.e. Auditions in April 2025 for enrollment in the 2025-2026 school year.
