Class Description:
This course will provide students with a variety of computer skills that will be useful throughout the remainder of their education and into their lives beyond school. Principles of Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications course focuses on careers in designing, producing, performing, writing, and publishing multimedia content.
In all courses, professional employability skills will be practiced. Websites and programs utilized frequently include: Google Drive/Classroom, iCEV, Typing.com, Canvas.com, and Adobe.
Grading & Attendance Policy
50% Daily
50% (Projects, Tests)
10 points are deducted after one week of late work. Students are able to make up work after an absence.
Attendance is necessary & highly recommended in order to be successful in the class. We cover a lot of material & students present often. Please plan on attending.
Presentations: Students will present to the class. Students are graded on their presentation and as an audience.
Communications: Students will use technology for communication, both written and verbal. Students will incorporate ELA in this class.
Technology (desktops): Students will learn about technology and how to use it.
Rules & Classroom Management Policies:
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and be ready to learn. Students are required and expected to participate in classroom discussions, projects, presentations, and daily work. All students are to act in a behavior that models the positive school environment & the Hornet Way. If students are not able to follow rules, they will be disciplined according to the steps and procedures outline in the Student Handbook.
Class Materials Requirements
All work assignments will be conducted on the desktop computers.
Students will not use their Chromebook in this class. All work will be conducted on the computer workstation assigned. Students must treat the computer work
Students should bring the following to class:
○ Wired Headphones
○ Poster board or card board/box
○ Ruler/Measuring Tape
○ Duct Tape (Any color or design)
○ Scissors
○ Markers, Pen, Pencil for marking/decorating
○ Pencil and Paper
○ Composition Book (Yearbook Class Only)
○ Hand Sanitizer OR Wipes (Optional)
○ Copy Paper (Optional)
○ Kleenex (Optional)
○ Dry Erase Markers (Optional)
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phone usage is not allowed in the classroom. Students should place their cell hones inside of their backpacks. If student does not have a backpack, students can place on Mrs. Reyes' desk and will be returned at the end of class. Eliminating cell phone distractions is one of the keys to being successful in the class.
First Assignment for Principles of AV (First Project: School Start)
Students will create a Keyboard Cover for this class. The following items are needed when school starts. Instructions will be delivered to students once school starts.
○ Poster board or card board/box
○ Ruler/Measuring Tape
○Duct Tape (Any color or design)
○ Scissors
