Purchase Physical Education Uniforms

We are looking forward to a very exciting year. This is a wonderful school with an excellent program. We hope this information will enlighten parents and students concerning: required materials, grading policy, rules, procedures, and expectations of the physical education department.

Class Expectations

Students are expected to follow all the rules that are contained within the student handbook. The following are also expected from the students:

No jackets or cell phones while in physical education class.
Be respectful to everyone and everything in the classroom.
Come to class prepared and always do your best.
No gum.

Physical Education Uniform

Our physical education uniform is specifically designed for Woodland Acres Middle School. Due to health and safety considerations, gym uniforms are required for physical education class. The cost for the complete gym uniform (shorts and shirt) is Thirty ($30) dollars GPISD REVTRAK Only. NO CASH or CHECK

During cold weather students are allowed to bring a sweat top and sweatpants to wear over their gym uniform and/or spandex to wear under gym clothes.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS NEEDED

Tennis shoes-inexpensive pair to be worn only in P.E. (an athletic shoe such as a cross trainer or running shoe. The shoes need to have laces. Absolutely NO Crocs!)
Library book
Deodorant-unbreakable, non-aerosol container
Bag-small see through bag to transport uniform home for laundering (clear plastic grocery bag is acceptable)
Water Bottle-non-breakable, with name on it.
Mosquito repellent and sunscreen – non-aerosol

The school will furnish towels, a locker, and a combination lock. No other locks are allowed. If the lock is lost or broken, a fee of six ($6) dollars is required to clear the student’s record.

* All supplies should display the student’s first and last name in permanent marker.

* No graffiti on uniform.

Grading Policy

Daily Grade 60% - Dressing out in proper uniform and participation

Test 40%

Daily Procedures

1. Bring all supplies to class daily.

2. Be on time.

3. Sit quietly and wait for instructions.

4. Enter the gym and dressing room in an orderly manner.

5. Go to your assigned locker area and dress quickly.

6. Restrooms and showers are not for changing clothes unless the student has just taken a shower.

7. Lock personal items in the locker and double check that it is locked.

8. Report to the assigned area.

9. On the teacher’s signal, assemble for class activity.

10. Listen and follow instructions from teachers.

11. Remain with your class at all times until dismissed by your teacher.

12. We will complete a fitness walk/run weekly.

13. At the end of class check to make sure all towels, uniforms, locks etc. are put away properly.

14. Always behave in a responsible manner in the gym, dressing room, and activity area--- No horseplay.

Department Policies

Students must be dressed in proper uniform to participate in class.
Students must dress out for class everyday.
Students are not allowed to have any writing on their gym suit other than their name.
Misplaced, stolen or damaged gym suits must be replaced in a timely manner.
A doctor’s note is required if a student is unable to participate for two or more days.
Notify the teacher if your child has an individual health concern..
Cameras, radio/CD players, or IPODS are not permitted at school.
CELL PHONES are not allowed in student’s possession during class.
NO CELL PHONES IN THE LOCKER ROOM. Students must put their cell phone in their bag before entering the locker room.
All valuables should be locked in the student’s assigned gym locker.
Teachers are not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
Students should not loan their gym suit or locker to other students.
Food, drink, or gum is not allowed in the gym, on the track, or dressing room.
Students should remain with their teacher and class at all times.
Students should never deface or damage school facilities or equipment.
Students should be respectful to teachers and other students.
No restroom use during PE activity, restroom use is allowed during time in the locker room.
