SJW Student Council

The purpose of student council is to act as the voice of the student body, fostering leadership, promoting school spirit, and improving the school environment by organizing events, raising funds for projects, and facilitating communication between students and administration. It serves as a platform for students to develop important life skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving, and civic responsibility, while empowering them to participate actively in their school community.

Learning to be a leader

By joining your elementary school’s student council, you’re elected by your fellow students to be their voice on a matter you’re passionate about. You have the chance to support different groups and give a voice to the voiceless. This is a great opportunity to better understand how different issues affect different individuals and groups, and have a chance to do something about it.

You can take what you learned being in your elementary school’s student council and apply it to when you get to middle school, where you’ll have countless opportunities to get involved in meaningful ways. From student-led initiatives to volunteering to clubs and communities, you’ll be able to take your leadership skills to the next level and share your voice on things that matter most to you.
