My name is Elissa Richey, and this is my 17th year teaching. I graduated from North Shore Senior High in 2001 and then from the University of Houston in 2007. I have been with Galena Park ISD for my entire teaching career. I started at North Shore Elementary teaching 3rd & 4th grades and then moved to Galena Park High School in 2010. Since moving to the high school level, I have taught English I-IV and coached softball. This year, I am teaching Resource English I & II and serve as the Special Education Department Chair. I am also currently attending the University of Houston to earn my masters degree in Special Populations with a certification as an educational diagnostician.
My pride and joy is my daughter, Bailey. She graduated from GPHS in 2018 and attended LeTourneau University to earn her bachelors and masters degrees. I'm very close to my entire family and spend a lot of time with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephew.
I love to travel! My goal is to visit all 50 states. So far, I've been to 27 of them, so lots of adventures still await me. I also love softball and baseball and am a die hard Astros fan. Some of my other hobbies are playing games, golfing, and fishing. I love teaching and getting to be a part of a student's learning.
