By the end of this course, students should be able to converse in a limited context about various aspects of daily life. During this class you will be introduced to the basics of the French language, with instruction mainly in French. There is a textbook that accompanies the class, along with other resources to help the study of the language. We will also take a look at the culture, because you can’t learn a language without learning about the culture of the people who speak it! If you have suggestions or things that are of interest to you (concerning Francophone culture) please feel free to talk to me.
Daily communication with students will occur through Google Classroom. Students can sign in and access Google Classroom via Classlink on their Chromebook or any computer. Apps are also available for iPhone/iPad and Android.
Please remember to bring your chromebook charged and ready for use, a charger, and earphones.
Course Description
Through thematic units, students will expand skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and cultural awareness. They will develop a functional command of words and phrases dealing with immediate needs and common everyday situations of simple questions and statements about family, residence, self, weather, time and interests. They will be able to recognize and properly use past/present tense grammar structures. The content expansion includes the use of familiar words and phrases applicable with normal commands, frequent instructions, and courtesy interchanges.
