I am Master Sergeant (retired) Darick Smith. This is my 9th year teaching at NSSH. My military career in the US Air Force comprises 22 years with 5 assignments (Japan, Kansas, England, Turkey, Oklahoma) including 6 deployments (Canada, Kuwait, United Arabs Emirates, Afghanistan, Qatar, Germany). My home town is Abilene, Texas.  I genuinely enjoy teaching youth and my goal is to always inspire them to do their best to succeed in life.

I'm Technical Sergeant Megan Longendyke. I go by Sergeant Long.
I bring over 20 years of dedicated service in the U.S. military, where I continue to serve part-time in the Air Force Reserves. Throughout my career, I've cultivated leadership, disciple, and a deep commitment to service--values I now carry in the classroom as a JROTC Instructor. Transitioning into education has allowed me to channel my experience into shaping the next generation of leaders. My "why" is rooted in a desire to inspire young minds across America, helping them discover their potential, build character, and understand the importance of service to something greater than themselves.
